MEET New Ray Renyck Director of Food & Nutrition Services Frances Carrera Director of Revenue Cycle Patient Financial Services LEADERS Chris Patty Director of Research Office of Research Danielle Grimaldi Nurse Manager Pediatrics Update on TRMC by Gary Herbst Change is upon us. If you have not heard, Tulare Regional Medical Center (TRMC) chose Adventist Health to exclusively negotiate with as an affiliation partner at its Board meeting on June 27. We had responded to TRMC s invitation and welcomed the opportunity to meet with their ad-hoc committee to discuss the contents of our letter and answer questions, but had not heard back from TRMC leaders as to whether committee members wanted to meet with us. Having not had the time to conduct the necessary due diligence, we did not have a formal proposal to present to the TRMC Board of Directors that night. That said, Kaweah Delta still remains interested in a potential future affiliation with TRMC under the right terms, conditions and timeframe. In the meantime, we continue to support the reopening of TRMC. Kris Daugherty Patient Food Services Manager Food & Nutrition Communi-K 5
HOSPICE ANNOUNCES GOOD GRIEF CAMP 2018 By Kent Mishler, Director of Chaplain Services Kaweah Delta Hospice is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Good Grief Camp will be on Saturday, September 15 at the Visalia Nazarene Church. This exciting day is for children who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. In 2017, at our very first camp (the only grief camp in the area), we served nearly 30 children and their families. There were over 40 volunteers helping throughout the day and many were from our Kaweah Delta family. The camp is provided at no cost to families because of the generosity of our community. No One Dies Alone A reminder... We offer volunteers who are willing to sit with patients who are dying and have no family present during their final hours. Research shows that being along during death is one of the top fears people have. In an effort to assure that no one dies alone, our NODA team of highly-trained volunteers is willing to be with patients regardless of their economic status, spiritual beliefs, or lifestyle. To utilize the NODA team, simply contact the House Supervisor or the NODA Coordinator when the situation is evaluated, and the team will be activated to support the care provided by the clinical team. If you know of a child between kindergarten and 6th grade who would benefit from Good Grief Camp, watch the District Daily for more information. We will have fliers available shortly. In addition, if you are interested in being a volunteer at Good Grief Camp, some or all of the day, please contact Deedy Smith, Hospice Bereavement Coordinator at gsmith@kdhcd.org. Communi-K 6
