MOU signing between GE Power India Limited and Construction Industry Development Council for Onsite Training, Testing and Certification of Construction Workers for 1000 persons : GE Power India Limited (GE) has signed an MOU with Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), New Delhi for Onsite Training, Testing and Certification of Construction Workers for 1000 persons under their CSR initiatives. The MOU was signed by Shri Vijay Sharma (Chief Financial Officer, Steam Power Systems, GE South Asia) and Shri P V Narayanan (CSR Leader- GE South Asia) and Shri. Ashutosh Bhardwaj, (Director Corporate Affairs) of CIDC. The program is aimed at recognizing the skills of the construction workers at various construction sites and provide certification to the successful candidates. The initiative will include onsite learning and creating greater awareness about Health / Safety and Environment issues besides handholding of learners by CIDC trainers for specific trades. Testing and Certification of onsite construction workers is a welcome move which translates into increased employability of construction workers, value added employment generation, and deployment of a skilled workforce leading to enhancement of quality, safety and productivity on various construction projects. It is in this regard that GE has approached Construction Industry Development Council to conduct onsite testing and certification of construction workers in 5 zones leading to the accrued benefits out of this program. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signed with Blueshift Education and Training Private Limited, Mumbai A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Blueshift Education and Training Private Limited, Mumbai for conducting the CIDC-Educational & Vocational programs in Construction Engineering in association with CIDC. Internship Program: 19 B.Tech. (7th Semester) students of Mewar University from civil engineering have successfully completed their first phase of one-month Internship Program at CIDC Faridabad training center & are in the process of deputation for On Job Training (OJT) for five months in the second stage. VALEDICTORY FUNCTION: BATCH I, AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA (AAI) 4TH JANUARY 2017, CIDC PRATHAM, FARIDABAD The valedictory function for Batch I under Project for Employment Oriented Training and skill development Programme for Unemployed youth /SC/ST/OBC Women & EWS of Society for 2000 persons under Airports Authority of India (AAI) CSR initiative was held on Wednesday, 4th January 2017, at CIDC Vishwakarma Pratham, Faridabad. The programme was graced by Shri Ashok Kumar Verma, GM (CP&MS)/CSR AAI, Shri R. N. Singh, DGM (Engg- Civil)/CSR, AAI, Shri Sandeep Kumar, Manager (Engg-Civil), AAI, Ajay Kumar, AGM (HR) / CSR, AAI. The programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and presentation of bouquets. The dignitaries then proceeded to interact with the students. The interactive session that followed had participation of students, faculty members and AAI dignitaries. Shri A. K. Verma, General Manager (CP&MS)/CSR conducted on insightful workshop on Self Capacity Building which was much appreciated by students & faculty alike. He explained the virtues of managing self and environment around us for personal & professional growth in a very lucid way. Certificates were distributed to the successful trainees by the AAI officials. The session included a 15-minute meditation module which drew great applause. The visit included a guided tour to the facilities, labs, library and workshops at Vishwakarma Pratam. P a g e 3

Talent Search Competition 2017 at Gorakhpur Centre: Construction Industry Development Council & Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology jointly organized Talent Search Competition 2017 on 08th Jan, 2017. This competition was conducted to search talents and give appreciation and encouragement to them. The competition was conducted in two levels, junior level for class 10 th students and senior level for class 12th students. Students from seventy colleges from seven major districts participated in the competition. Principals and teachers of different colleges were the observer of the completion. Er Arpit Sigh, HOD, Mechanical Engineer, VIET was the head of the committee of the Talent Search Competition 2016. Result Announcement and Award Distribution program of Talent Search Competition: Result Announcement and award distribution program was organized jointly by Construction Industry Development Council & Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology on 16 th Jan 2017 in VIET campus. Dr. P.R. Swarup, Director General, CIDC was the Chief Guest. In his very informative and motivating address, Dr Swarup shared the scope in the construction industry for the talented and hardworking youths. Dr Swarup also emphasized the importance of hands on training in the engineering field. Er Shashi Bhushan, Chairman, VIET, Er P K Mishra, Addnl Director, CIDC, Sh Sujit Srivastava, OSD, GIDA, Gorakhpur, Sh Ram Sharan Prasad, Patron, VIET were also on the dais. Around 1000 participants with their guardians were present in the program. In senior level, Sh Abhishek Pratap Mall, first prize winner got prize of Rs 10,000 and certificate. Sh Shashank Kumar Vaish, second prize winner got prize of Rs 7,500 and certificate. Sh Ayush Srivastava, third prize winner got prize of 5,000 and certificate. Consolation prizes of Rs. 500 to 25 participants were also given. In Junior level, Sh. Vishwajeet Vishwakarma, first prize winner got prize of Rs. 7,500 and certificate. certificate. Sh. Kushgra Gupta, second prize winner got prize of 5000 and certificate. Sh. Kislay Tripathi, third prize winner got prize of 2,500 and certificate. Consolation prizes of Rs. 500 to 27 participants were also given. P a g e 5

Republic Day celebrations at CIDC Training centres: Gorakhpur Training Centre: Republic Day celebration program was organized on 26th Jan, 2017 in Gorakhpur center. Shri P K Mishra, Additional Director hoisted the national flag at 9.00 am. Smt. Manju Mishra, Manager, Purvanchal Academy, Gorakhpur was the Guest of Honor. CIDC staff and trainees sung patriotic songs. Speeches of trainees created environment of dedication and sacrifice for nation. A cultural program, having focus on patriotism, was also organized by the trainees. Environmental Educational & Social Upliftment Program on Republic Day: On the occasion of Republic day 26 th Jan, 2017 an environment education and social upliftment program was organized by CIDC, Gorakhpur center with homeless children of Apan Ghar. To campaign for importance of trees and forest on environment, Gorakhpur center organized tree plantation program in which children and members from Apan Ghar with Sh. P K Mishra CIDC staff planted trees in Apan Ghar. People of almost all stakes appreciated the initiatives taken by CIDC to protect environment by planting trees and made people aware about the services of trees in our life and their role in making environmental balance. For social upliftment, CIDC Gorakhpur distributed the books having the materials on social concerns among the children of Apna Ghar. VKT Dhaulana Training Centre: P a g e 6
