Communications / Media Journalism, Media I work on the digital desk and maintain NBC4i.com, as well as our social media platforms (mainly Twitter and Facebook). Externs may help me and the digital team with writing a web article, posting on social media as NBC4, and doing any other site maintenance. Externs may help with breaking news coverage, copy editing, etc. but will also be challenged creatively!! This externship is more suited for students interested in the writing and editing side of journalism, not the on-air side, though there may be an opportunity to learn from an on-air personality depending on timing.

My hope would be to see what the students interests are and work their time with me around those interests.

Columbus Recreation & Parks: McKnight Outdoor Education Center Sponsor: Dan Conroy 10 Nature Programs Administrative Manager columbus.gov/recreationandparks We provide environmental education and outdoor programming to residents of all ages in the City of Columbus and surrounding communities. We host free and/or low cost programs annually. We offer after school enrichment classes, school field trips, winter and summer day camps, scout and youth group programming, private programs for the general public and special events. We facilitate opportunities for children and adults to form personal connections with nature and peers through experiential learning. Environmental Education, Outdoor Recreation, Government Environmental Education, Outdoor Recreation, HHK, Zoology It will be a unique opportunity to experience many sides of Outdoor Education. The Extern will receive an overview of the Outdoor Education section and visit the main office for the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks located downtown Columbus. The Extern will have an opportunity to experience the size and scope of a large, urban recreation and parks department. The Extern may participate in educational activities with groups or help with small projects to experience the preparation and processes for outdoor/environmental education related activities. The Extern will have the opportunity to handle/feed the snakes and turtles that are kept at the McKnight Outdoor Education Center for conservation education. NOTE: Due to the nature of the job, we are often outside in the rain, snow, and mud. Appropriate footwear is required. We typically wear casual boots and outerwear that is 'current condition' appropriate.
