Enclosure C-1-a August 8, 2016 The Worthington Board of Education met for a Regular Meeting on the 25th day of July, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., at the Worthington Education Center. Mr. Schare called the meeting to order with roll call: Mrs. Best Mrs. Keegan Mr. Schare Mr. Shim Mr. Wilson present present present absent present The meeting began with introductions, the call to order and the pledge of allegiance. 16-105 Mrs. Best moved the adoption of a resolution whereby the agenda be approved for the regular Board of Education meeting. Addendum Mrs. Best, Mrs. Keegan, Mr. Schare, Mr. Wilson INFORMATION AND PROPOSALS B-1-a Visitor Comments There were no visitor comments. B-1-b Board/Committee Reports, Announcements and Updates Mr. Wilson explained that the Worthington Educational Foundation will have strategic planning discussions on August 9 and August 23. Mr. Wilson added that there will be a facilitator and he will keep board members informed.

Mrs. Keegan said that an open invitation has been extended to the board for the August 1 Heroin Abuse Summit being held at the McConnell Arts Center. Dr. Bowers explained that the district will partner with the City of Worthington, Worthington Police, Senator Portman s office, and Ohio Attorney General DeWine s office to host a community conversation regarding opiates and heroin. The event will start Monday, August 1, at 5:30pm and run for about an hour. Dr. Bowers said that the district is also encouraging families who want to learn and see more resources to attend the meeting and to visit the front page of the district s website. Mr. Schare said that the Policy Committee, which met at least five times since the last board meeting, will get the first batch of policy to be reviewed to board members by the September 26 board meeting. Mr. Schare also added that he sent a letter to Senator Portman s office asking about the possibility of live streaming the Heroin Abuse Summit. Dr. Bowers replied that he would follow up with Senator Portman s office, which is heading up the event. ACTIONS RECOMMENDED BY THE TREASURER 16-106 Mrs. Best moved the adoption of a resolution whereby the minutes of the June 13, 2016; June 27, 2016, regular meetings, and the July 8, 2016, special meeting be approved, as indicated in Enclosures C-1-a-1, C-1-a-2, and C-1-a-3. C-3-b Advertise and Receive Bids for School Buses Recommended motion: to approve the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Worthington Board of Education wishes to advertise and receive bids for the purchase of four (4) 78 passenger conventional (type) school bus(es) and one (1) handicap accessible school bus. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Worthington Board of Education wishes to participate and authorize META Solutions (META) to advertise and receive bids on said Boards behalf as per the specifications submitted for the cooperative purchase of four (4) 78 passenger conventional school bus(es) and one (1) handicap accessible school bus. Mrs. Best, Mrs. Keegan, Mr. Schare, Mr. Wilson ACTIONS RECOMMENDED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION 16-110 Mr. Wilson moved the adoption of a resolution whereby the high school new course CCSS Integrated Mathematics Support, as presented at the June 27, 2016 Board of Education meeting be approved. A brief description is as follows: The CCSS Integrated Mathematics Support course is designed to be taken concurrently with either CCSS Integrated Mathematics 1, Integrated Mathematics 2, or Integrated Mathematics 3 to help the student keep up and succeed with the pace, rigor and accountability of the regular course.
