In 2019, West Moreton Hospital and Health Service (West Moreton Health) is offering a new 24month Allied Health Graduate Program specifically in Mental Health for Graduate Psychologists, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. This will include specialisation in mental health in no more than four placements during the years, however not all placements will be available. Health facilities included in this Allied Health Graduate Program may include: o Acute Care Team Ipswich Hospital o Alcohol and Other Drugs (AODs) Ipswich Health Plaza o Child and Youth Mental Health Service Ipswich Health Plaza and Goodna Health Centre o Ipswich and Rural Continuing Care Team Ipswich Health Plaza o Gailes Community Care Unit o Goodna Community Care Team o Older Person s Mental Health Service Ipswich Hospital o The Park - Centre for Mental Health, Treatment, Research and Education West Moreton Health is working to strengthen its Allied Health workforce specialising in mental health and ensuring graduates have more employment opportunities. About West Moreton Health West Moreton Health has a long and proud history of caring for the communities of Ipswich, Boonah, Esk, Laidley and Gatton. The hospital and health service is one of the largest employers in the region, employing more than 2,800 staff. West Moreton Health delivers health services in a mix of metropolitan and small rural community settings and services a population of about 260,000 people. The Health Service catchment is the third fastest growth area in Australia, with the population forecast to increase by 77 per cent to 450,000 people by 2026 (based on information available at April 2015). The projected increase in population is the largest of any Hospital and Health Service in Queensland. The Health Service has excellent prospects for growth which makes it an ideal employer for those seeking to develop their career. The Hospital and Health Service delivers health services across the continuum of care: preventative and primary health care services, ambulatory services, acute care, sub-acute care, oral health and mental health and specialised services (including Offender Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs). West Moreton also has a major teaching role, providing both undergraduate and postgraduate clinical experience for members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team and has accountability for state wide research and learning facilities for mental health. The Mental Health and Specialised Services (MHSS) division is responsible for delivering high quality, comprehensive mental health, alcohol and other drugs and prison health services across West Moreton region. The division comprises of four streams; Strategy, Development and Performance, Prison Health Services, Community and Acute Services, and Forensic and Secure Services. Forensic and Secure Services incorporates state wide/ multi HHS clinical services through High Security Inpatient Services, Extended Treatment and Rehabilitation Forensic Unit, Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit and Prison Mental Health Services. In addition, MHSS is responsible for state wide specialised services including Queensland Centre for Mental Health Learning, Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research and Queensland Mental Health Benchmarking Unit. Submitting an application Applications for employment cover all Queensland Health facilities and must be submitted via the Queensland Government Graduate Portal. How to apply 1. Visit the Graduate Portal, select Graduate Programs 2. Scroll down the page to the Available Programs table 3. Select Register for all available opportunities to be taken to the Graduate Portal login and registration page. a. Registering in the Graduate Portal between December 10 th and December 19 th will ensure you are considered for the program. 4. If you have previously applied on the Graduate Portal or Smart Jobs, enter your existing login details and select login. 5. If you have not previously registered on the Graduate Portal or Smart Jobs, select Register to create a new account, type in a username (email address) and choose a suitable password. a. Use an email address you will access regularly b. Avoid using an email provider with a low storage limit in case it cannot accept the size of the recruiting documents c. If you are using your university email address, ensure you can access it after you graduate 6. Complete your account details, select save, and you will be directed to the application form. 7. Complete the form, remembering to upload all essential documents (academic transcript, completed graduate summary, resume and cover letter) and select submit. 8. Under Other information, in response to the preferred department questions, select YOUR preference of the from the following options: a. Acute Care Team Ipswich Hospital b. After submitting, you should receive an automated confirmation email from the Graduate Portal with the reference number: QLD/265792. This means that your application has been submitted successfully. However, if the reference number in the confirmation email is anything other than QLD/265792 it would indicate that you have submitted your application incorrectly. You need to log back into the portal and make sure you select the Allied Health Graduate Program registration link on the portal to re-lodge your application. 10. After submitting your application, you can change and edit information up until the end of the application period Wednesday December 19th, 5:00pm. No further applications accepted after Wednesday December 19th, 5:00pm. 11. If the status of your application is listed as Draft it is an indication that your application has not been correctly submitted. Successfully submitted applications are listed as Submitted. Please check the status of your application before Wednesday December 19th, 5:00pm to ensure the status is Submitted. Please be aware only ONE application from the same individual will be accepted by the Queensland Government Portal. Graduates who submit multiple applications will not increase their chances of being considered for offers. The portal will automatically remove any subsequent submissions from the same applicant. Fulfil all the requirements of documentation and identity checks, as stated by the relevant role description. Certified copies of required information must be provided to appropriate supervisor / manager, prior to commencement of duties. Provide all documentation relating to residency status (i.e. certified proof of citizenship/residency) Provide results from International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Occupational English Test (OET) Pre-employment screening, including criminal history and discipline history checks, may be undertaken on persons recommended for employment. Recruitment eligibility criteria Queensland Government Graduate Portal To be eligible to apply through the Queensland Government Graduate Portal, an Allied Health Graduate must meet the following criteria: For Psychology graduates: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Possession of registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) along with a current annual practicing certificate are essential requirements for this position. Post-Graduate Qualifications A post-graduate qualification in Clinical Psychology at the Masters/Doctorate level is mandatory. This position requires the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle, therefore an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be produced before commencement of duties. This role may provide health, counselling and support services that involve children and will require a blue card. This position will be required to work across various facilities throughout West Moreton Health and may be required to work shift work including weekends in some Placements. Commitment to working in West Moreton Health during the 24-month Allied Health Graduate Program while undertaking a variety of allocated mental health placements. It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment as required by HED 01/16 Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements/HR Policy B1 [measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B], [hepatitis A], [tuberculosis]. Pre-employment screening, including criminal history and discipline history checks, may be undertaken on persons recommended for employment. Actively participate in the Health Service Performance Planning and Appraisal and Individual Development Planning processes and in the Health Service 1:1 conversation. For Social Work graduates: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. This position requires the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle, therefore an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. While not mandatory, post-graduate qualifications at the Masters/Doctorate level are desirable. Application process Cover letter and resume Everything your potential new employer needs to know is in your resume, so you don t need to talk at length in your cover letter. It is a document you provide to enhance your resume. A couple of good size paragraphs is more than enough to introduce yourself, talk about why you are perfect for this Allied Health Graduate Program in mental health, your mental health career experience and aspirations, where you want to go in the mental health career pathway and what mental health role you can see yourself in. Do not simply repeat what's in your resume. Your resume lists your skills, but your cover letter should be an opportunity to highlight how you have or can put those mental health skills to use. All applicants who apply for advertised vacancies via the Smart Jobs and Careers website are required to declare their CV/resume is true and correct at the time their application is lodged. Graduate summary The graduate summary is a document where you indicate preferred graduate placement as selected in your on-line application form. All Graduates must complete and attach the graduate summary, indicating your preferred placement, in your application in the Graduate Portal. Note not all placements can be offered or guaranteed. Should you experience technical problems in downloading the graduate summary, use a different browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. Graduates wanting to apply should select Greater Brisbane or any location as their preferred work location and then select from the drop-down list, two preferred departments. Documents submitted in Microsoft Word may risk not being accepted by the portal. Preferences of graduate placements It is important that all applicants identify one preferred placement in which you would be willing to undertake a graduate placement in. Graduate placements are subject to availability and recruitment variables, thus not all placements will be offered or guaranteed. West Moreton Health receives a high number of applications and it is recommended that by choosing to work in this health service graduates are committed to and aware of the needs to attract and retain Allied Health Professional in Mental Health in West Moreton Health. The nominated preferences in your graduate summary must match those nominated in the online application form. Changes to your application You have until the closing date December 19th, 5:00pm, to make changes to your application through the portal. After this date, you will not be able to make changes to your application via the Graduate Portal. Applications close on December 19th, 5:00pm where no further applications are accepted. Recruitment and selection process Eligible applicants will be considered, and shortlisted applicants will be contacted to arrange a date, time and place to attend an interview where required. Please ensure personal details are correct and check your mobile and/or email to see if you have been contacted for an interview. Interviews with shortlisted applicants will be face-to-face at West Moreton Health the week of January 14th January 18 th, 2019, or via telephone, at the discretion of West Moreton Health. Once contacted, you will be informed of the next steps regarding the selection process. For recruitment purposes, West Moreton Health assess the priority key skill requirements of team focus, patient focus and work values. Questions will usually have a behavioral based perspective, which requires applicants to provide actual examples of how they have managed specific issues or situations. If you have not heard by January 18 th, 2019 on the status of your application after the closing date you have not been shortlisted for an interview. Proof of identity All applicants must provide proof of identity prior to commencing employment. Original or certified copies of three documents as outlined below (i.e. ensuring documents from each section). Identification must be current and must include at least one type of photographic identity (ID) and identification that contains a signature and date of birth. Offers of employment Offers Notification of offers will be made by West Moreton Health following the selection process. Applicants in receipt of offers will be given a timeframe in which to consider the offer and to either accept or decline. Applicants will have seven calendar days from the date of receiving the offer to accept.
