Statements & Search Criteria Mission The mission of The Marco Players is to provide a venue, and a professional environment, for performers and theater-goers alike to experience entertaining, meaningful, high quality theatrical productions that benefit the community, our volunteers and local community organizations. Background The Marco Players is the oldest not-for-profit, 501(c)3, community theater on Marco Island. As a volunteerdriven organization that operates year-round, The Marco Players deliver live community theater and music to residents and visitors of SW Florida.Started in the 1970's (est. 1974) as a children's play reading group, it was eventually re-created as an adult community theater known as The Marco Island Players. In the late 1970's, the Players incorporated as a non-profit corporation, now known as The Marco Players.In the early 1990's, with the cooperation of Marco Town Center Mall, The Marco Players settled into its current leased spaces which serve as the rehearsal space, box office, tech booth and 83-seat theater space. Needs As The Marco Players raises the curtain for this season, we celebrate over four decades of delivering live community theater to Marco Island! Donations to The Marco Players have made it possible for us to make improvements to the physical theater and to operations. Making improvements to the lighting, sound and physical plans are essential in bringing you the best productions possible. Ticket sales cover basic operational expenses so we can survive. Donations are needed to help us grow. Our immediate needs include:2 New Air Conditioning Units Environmental Maintenance (carpet cleaning, paint)technology to update the Production Tech BoothImprovements to Stage LightingA Green Room Long Term needs concern finding and either rehabing or building a new, larger space to accommodate our growing audience. Programs Programs The Marco Players Theater Description The Marco Players (TMP) is the oldest not-for-profit, Community Theater on Marco Island. TMP's mission is to provide a venue, and a professional environment, for performers and theater-goers alike to experience entertaining, meaningful, high quality theatrical productions that benefit the community, our volunteers and local community organizations. As The Marco Players raises the curtain for the 2018-2019 season, we celebrate over four decades of delivering live community theater to SW Florida! By providing quality performances, TMP's audience has grown from a small, local Marco Island audience to include ticket holders from all over SW Florida. Ticket sales cover basic operational expenses so we can survive. Donations are needed to help us grow. Donations to The Marco Players have made it possible for us to make improvements to the physical theater and to stream line operations with new technology. Build a sustainable operating model to ensure access to The Marco Players' (TMP) programs by the community for future generations. 2. Acquire a new building in TMP's market area with larger venue and more audience amenities. 3. Focus on enhanced community engagement, attendance rates and arts engagement activities.4. Further board effectiveness in the arts community through TMP policy development and guidelines for leadership of the organization. Strategies What are the major strategies you will do to accomplish your goals? 1. Develop a Marketing and Fundraising plan to utilize in attracting new individuals, corporations and other potential donors. 2. Diversify the TMP's offerings to mitigate financial risk and to expand revenue streams by providing programming that includes musicals, education classes, children's theater and more. 3. Conduct a needs assessment and create a capital fundraising program to fund new facility with a focus on acquisition and buildout of a new facility. 4. Solidify partnership with The Acting School and the acting programs in local high schools, to develop a young artist's program and provide young actors with a venue at TMP. 5. Create opportunities for business and government through sponsorship to support TMP's efforts to grow young artists. 1.
