Mission & Impact Statements Mission Vox Grata is a women's choir founded and directed by Jeanette MacCallum in 2012. The choir is comprised of joyful women who, out of gratitude for the fullness of their own lives, possess a desire to sing together for the benefit of others. The group performs repertoire that expresses a uniquely feminine spirit, especially works that promote the best interests of women in society. Concert programs are carefully planned to heighten audience awareness of particular social justice issues affecting women in the middle Tennessee region. A non-profit beneficiary is chosen for each major concert. Concerts are free to the public but donations are collected with 100% of the donations passed along to the beneficiary. Programming is geared towards musical works that address the specific problems and needs of the chosen beneficiary organizations. Background Vox Grata Women's Choir was formed as a result of the vision of its conductor and founder, Jeanette MacCallum. Her concept has been to provide excellent choral music written and arranged for women's choirs, but with the outreach of the concert proceeds to benefit charitable organizations that benefit women in middle Tennessee. Vox Grata Women's Choir passes along 100% of concert proceeds to the designated beneficiary organization, as approved by the board of directors. Impact Accomplishments of the 2017/18 Program Year:1. Vox Grata's May 2018 concerts raised donations of $ for Miriam's Promise. The vember 2017 concerts raised donations of $ for The Mary Parrish Center.2. Vox Grata offered two performances of each of its concert programs, performing for the first time at The Temple, Nashville and Blair School of Music. This resulted in a large increase in audience sizes and exposure to potential new patrons.3. Vox Grata collaborated twice during the season with musicians from Alias Chamber Ensemble.4. Vox Grata partnered with the Nashville Symphony's community-wide "Violins of Hope" series by performing a major work based upon the Diary of Anne Frank in May 2018 in two venues.5. From inception to date, Vox Grata concerts have resulted in cash donations of over $ to area non-profit agencies. Goals for the 2018/19 Concert Program Year:1. Maximize concert marketing activities in order to benefit selected charitable organizations for each concert.2. Formalize development plan for corporate sponsorships and individual donors.3. Identify possible grantors for major commissioning project. 4. Formalize plans with a composer for major commissioning project.5. Identify possible partnerships for major commissioning project. Needs Vox Grata offers a season of high quality women's choral concerts. Its singers volunteer their time, as do the accompanist, and the conductors. In order to contract guest artists and instrumentalists, grant funding and donations will be important to us in the future. A typical concert season will require extra musician costs of up to $4,000. Sheet music costs vary, but typically average $2,000 per season. Printing costs have been provided near cost in the past, but still run about $150 - $300 for a season. Printing donations will be helpful. Other marketing costs for poster printing and mailing run about $300 per season. The choir plans to commission a major choral work addressing the issues surrounding substance abuse addiction, healing and recovery in the near future. One major gift of $10,000 has already been received towards this project.since all concert donations are passed along to beneficiary organizations, additional funding by way of donations and grants to Vox Grata will result in enhanced concert programs. Board Chair Statement Having completed its sixth concert season, Vox Grata Women's Choir has offered innovative and artistic concert programs, inspired by its founder's vision to benefit other women's organizations throughout middle Tennessee. The beneficiary organizations are selected through a vetting process by a subcommittee of the board of directors, and subject to approval by the board and choir. The directors, accompanist, singers and board members donate their time and talents, without benefit of remuneration. In order to continue to program high caliber concerts that include guest musicians from time to time (soloists, instrumentalists), the organization is in need of donations that are earmarked to help fund its concerts. This is critical to its function, since proceeds from donations at a specific concert are given to the selected beneficiary organization. The vision of the founder and artistic director for Vox Grata is unique across the United States. While there are other fine women's choirs in the USA, we are not aware of any other group that contributes 100% of the donations received at each concert to a beneficiary charitable organization in its area. Our choir is growing in number and in in stature, as we performed joint concerts this year with ALIAS Ensemble and the Blair Children's Chorus, in a communitywide event focused on a "Violins of Hope" community series. We ask you to support this wonderful cause by helping us continue to develop and bring fine choral music concerts to middle Tennessee that are especially rewarding to concert goers, as well as to beneficiaries of the choir's concerts.sincerely yours, susan HassellBoard PresidentVox Grata Women's Choir CEO Statement Vox Grata is widely regarded as Middle Tennessee's finest community women's choir. Their performances vary during each concert season. The singers in the choir, its musical leaders and its board all volunteer their services to prepare outstanding, artistic programs to benefit women in the community. We ask for and need greater financial support from the community to fund our own costs, as all proceeds at concerts are donated to beneficiary organizations that meet the needs of women in middle TN. Thank you for your consideration. 3

Programs Programs Vox Grata Concert Programs Description Each Vox Grata Women's Choir concert can cost up to $1,500 - $2,000. This covers costs for sheet music, poster printing, program printing, professional musicians contracted for rehearsal and performances. The choir, accompanist and director receive no compensation, so program enhancement is made through the use of other professionals, depending on the types of music performed (instrumental accompaniment, etc.). Budget $1500 - $2,000 Population Served,, CEO Comments Vox Grata Women's Choir presents high caliber choral concerts by its volunteer woman singers, director and accompanist. Programs require many weeks of rehearsal and lots of hours of time invested by the participants. Due to the high caliber of musical offerings presented, outside professional instrumentalists are sometimes needed and contracted. Since Vox Grata gives all concert donations to a beneficiary organization of Middle Tennessee, no proceeds go to he choir or to its director. Generous donations and grants will be two of the ways in which the choir can receive funding that will help support its concert programs for the future. 4
