For international online gaming company Gamesys, a hiring system organized by Post-It notes and reliant on by-hand sourcing wasn t supporting the company s rapid expansion. With over 1,000 employees in more than seven offices worldwide, the last three years at Gamesys have consisted of growth in both profit and company size. Naturally, securing the right kind of hires for a company with such a diverse offering is paramount to long-term success. However, with up to 200 roles open at a given time, and a 48 percent growth rate over the previous year, the recruiting department at Gamesys couldn t keep pace. Soon after joining Gamesys, recruitment manger Alex Shepherd knew the company needed a change, so he began exploring possible recruiting platforms that could do the job. His search criteria? Shepherd needed to streamline agency usage and reduce cost, as Gamesys relied on outside agencies for over 50 percent of hires. Also important to Shepherd and his team was an improvement in managing the candidate experience, which they consider a key aspect of their recruiting strategy. CHAMPIONING THE CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE While tracking and organizing candidates by hand was certainly inefficient and clunky for Shepherd s hiring team, there was a bigger reason for implementing a new recruiting system. Having visibility into where our candidates are in the hiring process is our number one priority, Shepherd explains. Making sure our candidates have a quality application and interview experience, no matter their region or home base, is immensely important to us at Gamesys.

According to Shepherd, Our old career site was a nightmare; we put it together very quickly and it was very difficult to update. With Jobvite, we re able to keep live jobs up on the site at all times, and have it update automatically. In just a one-year period, we ve had double the amount of applications through the new career site than the old one. Thanks to Jobvite s extended visibility into the hiring process, Gamesys has improved its candidate experience drastically, making the process as seamless as possible. ELIMINATING AGENCY COSTS Another concern of Shepherd and his hiring team was the costly and often unnecessary agency fees Gamesys had been incurring for years. According to Shepherd, the company uses agencies for about 51 percent of hiring efforts, which resulted in over 150 hires sourced by outside agencies last year alone. Because each of these candidates came with an agency fee, the Gamesys team was looking for a way to reduce costs while still securing the quality hires they needed. As Shepherd explains, We occupy a competitive market, so there is not an excessive amount of candidates out there for roles that we need to fill. It helps when candidates recognize our brand, but many people in the U.K. and the U.S. haven t heard our name.
