Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav MP (Rajya Sabha), President, NCUI & Chairman, NCCT inaugurated the 4 day Train The Trainers (TTT) programme second in the series on 7th September,2015 organized by the National Council for Cooperative Training in collaboration with Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) Delhi Chapter & TraNc for the faculty members of RICMs/ICMs. While inaugurating the programme, Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said that the world has changed a lot after the globalization as business practices of the past have turned obsolete. While the corporate sector adapted itself quickly to the new business climate, the cooperative sector has yet to do it. However,it is the cooperative movement only which could challenge the dominance of corporate and in that sense training is very important for enabling the Cooperative sector to take the challenge, he said. The cooperative movement of India is the strongest in the world as it is a people s movement unlike other countries where it is basically a Govt. sponsored movement. NCCT News Bulletin in accepting the fact that some of the cooperatives have not delivered the desired results in the past thus bringing bad name to the cooperative movement. This was partly due to the fact that persons who are managing cooperatives are not trained professionally. He appreciated the efforts of the NCCT towards quality development of the faculty members who are working in RICMs/ICM and appealed to all participants for conducting the training in a professional and effective manner so that training may produce results at the field level. He thanked Mohan Mishra Secretary NCCT profusely for conceiving the idea and Director General, Dr. Dinesh for facilitating the programmes. Earlier Secretary NCCT Shri Mohan Mishra welcomed the participants and thanked the Chairman of NCCT Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, for inaugurating the programme and motivating the participants by his presence. He emphasized on the importance of human resource development and capacity building of the trainers. He opined that the programme will prove fruitful to meet the challenges being faced by the cooperative institutions enabling the trainers to deliver the best. Dr. Dinesh, Director General, NCCT addressing the TTT Programme Dr. Nanditesh Nilay of ISTM the Coordinator of the programme also addressed the participants on the occasion and highlighted the objectives of the programme. The valedictory function of the programme was organized th on 10 Sep. at the Board Room of IFFCO Headquarter. Shri Rakesh Kapur Joint Managing Director IFFCO graced the valedictory function as Chief Guest. While delivering the valedictory address he said that there are 6 lakhs cooperatives in India but there are only a few which are reckoned. In his address, Shri Kapur focused on the opportunities for cooperatives and referred to CSR in this context. Corporate have compulsions of spending money out of their profits for the betterment of the society under the CSR head but they are urban based. He quoted an American study in which it was found that for every dollar spent on training had a return of nine dollars. Cooperatives with their outreach in rural areas can run several ventures such as drinking water projects, irrigationprojects, health centers etc. There is no dearth of fund, he said. He stressed the importance of TTT for the faculty of RICMs/ICMs for equipping them with the latest and effective training techniques and methodology. He also distributed the certificates to the participants on the occasion. Earlier, Shri Mohan Kumar Mishra, Secretary while welcoming Shri Kapur, Joint Managing Director, IFFCO presented brief account of the programme. He informed that the successful conduction of the programme provided 2

July-September 2015 such programme and expressed that this programme will definitely enhance their performance in designing and delivering training at their respective institutes. Shri Rakesh Kapur Joint Managing Director, IFFCO distributing Certificates to the participants of TTT Programme opportunity to the faculty members of NCCT in acquiring in-depth knowledge of the training skill which will help them to be an effective trainer. Dr. Dinesh, Director General, NCCT in his address stressed that the faculties trained in this programme will be able to deliver the results at the RICM/ICM level through effective training. While giving their feedback of the programme the participants thanked the NCCT authorities for organising Dr. R. Jayalakshmi, Faculty Member, ICM, Thiruvananthapuram and Shri Shyam Kumar. S, Faculty Member, ICM, Hyderabad giving feedback about the TTT Programme at the Valedictory Function Altogether 20 faculty members from RICMs/ICMs across the country participated in the 4 days TTT programme. The TTT programme covers various topics such as systematic approach to training, adult learning principles, role of trainers, training identification, training methodology, designing and delivering programmes and post training evaluation. Apart from classroom interactive session, other teaching techniques such as group activities, exercises, case studies and games have been employed by the trainers Group photo of participants of TTT programme 3

The Workshop was inaugurated by Shri R.S. Huchachary, Additional Registrar of Cooperative Societies (Retd.) Bengaluru and Dr. S. Chandrashekar, President, The Karnataka State Urban Credit Cooperative Societies Federation Ltd., Bengaluru. Shri Arun Kumar, Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Karnataka was the Chief Guest of the function. Deliberated on major issues, challenges before cooperatives in his speech. The function was attended by officers and staff of RICM, Bengaluru, NIRB, KICM, ACSTI,Bangalore Dist. Coop. Union, CICOPA and KSC Apex Bank Ltd., The Training programme first in the series on "Leadership Development -cum-business Development" for the Chairmen/Directors of Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies of various districts of the Bihar state was inaugurated by Hon'ble Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, M.P. and President, National Cooperative Union of India(NCUI) and Chairman, National Council for Cooperative Training, New Delhi on 13th of July, 2015 in the premises of RICM, Patna. While inaugurating the programme, Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav dwelt at length about the role of cooperatives in the changed economic scenario vis-a-vis the importance of undertaking innovative training programmes to enable the work force to withstand the challenges emerging out of the globalized and liberalized economy. NCCT News Bulletin Shri Ajay Kumar Choudhary, IAS, Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Bihar while emphasizing the need of professionalization in management of cooperative societies also stated that members involvement is the soul of cooperatives and thus the responsibilities of cooperative leaders is enhanced to a great extent. He also assured that the state level cooperative training policy is being framed by the Cooperative Department, Bihar for the performance enhancement of the work force from bottom to top functionaries. The occasion was also graced by eminent cooperative leaders of the state of Bihar, Shri Bijendra Singh, Ex- Chairman, NAFED and Member, Governing Council of NCUI, Shri Mudit Verma, Director, Uttar Bharat Urban Cooperative Banks Federation, Lucknow & Member,Governing Council, NCUI, New Delhi, Shri Paresh Bhai R.Patel, EX-M.P, Shri Bhikha Bhai Patel and Shri Ponnam Prabhakar, M.P Director, KRIBHCO and the Managing Director, KRIBHCO Sri N.Sambhashiv Rao, Shri Ajay Rai, Chairman, U.P.State Cooperative Bank and the President, Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Union. Later, they held discussions with the Director and other teaching faculty members of the RICM, Patna about the ongoing training and other activities of the Institute. Programme on Climate-Smart Agriculture in Bihar The Institute conducted three days training programme on Climate-Smart Agriculture in Bihar from July 27-29, 2015. The programme was sponsored by International Food Policy Research Institute (IFRI), Washington DC, USA. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. R. K. P. Singh, Former member Farmers Commission, Bihar with Sh. Avinash Kishore of IFPRI, New Delhi. ICM, Bhubaneswar Smt. Snehangini Chhuria. Hon'ble Minister for Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts inaugurates Training Programme of PWCS Secretaries A 3 day Training Programme on Financial Management, Cost Accounting and Audit for the Secretaries of Primary Weavers' Cooperative Societies (PWCS), Odisha was inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister for Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts Smt. Snehangini Chhuria. Inaugurating the programme, the Hon'ble Minister emphasized upon the demand of the Handloom products of Odisha inside and outside the country and the leading architects behind are the weavers of PWCS. She also emphasized upon that at present only 479 PWCS are functional and many more are under liquidation process. She impressed upon the secretaries to aware the weavers about the opportunities and motivate them to perform for maintaining the reputation of the handloom industry of the State as well as for their financial uplift. She advised the participating secretaries of PWCS to concentrate upon the deliberations of these three days and clarify all the doubts which are creating bottlenecks for the growth. Smt.ChithraArumugam, IAS, Commissioner-cum- Secretary, Department of Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts, Government of Odisha in her deliberations explained the need of Financial Management, Cost Accounting and Audit in performance of the PWCS. She assured the participating secretaries that, Department of Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts will take all the steps to aware PWCS about all the opportunities that are available for growth of PWCS and it is the Secretaries who are to implement the same. Avinash Kishore of IFPRI, New Delhi inaugurating the Training Programme The first Convocation for MBA 2012-14 Batch held on 4th July, 2015 at Dr. Varghese Kurien Hall in Natesan Institute of Cooperative Management, Chennai. July-September 2015 NCUI & Chairman NCCT conferred the MBA degrees to the students. In his convocation address, he congratulated all the students. He advised the students, to carry three P's essential for success i.e. Purity, Patience and Perseverance in their life. Smt. Amudha Arunachalam, President TNSCU, Chairperson, NICM, Chennai, delivered the presidential address in the convocation. In her presidential address, she lauded the 2012-14 batch MBA students for building brand Image on NICM by winning many Inter-Collegiate Management events. Further she appreciated the students who regularly clean the campus without hesitation. She was proud to say that, these students are real role models of NICM. Shri. Mohan Kumar Mishra, Secretary NCCT who graced the function as the guest of honour highlighted that students should take right decision at right time. Getting MBA degree is not a destination, The role of education is not only a professional success, but it is also welfare of the society. Earlier, Dr. P. Jagannathan, Director, NICM welcomed the gathering. The Convocation Function was attended by MBA Graduates along with their parents, MBA 2nd Year students, and officials of cooperative department, faculty and staff of NICM. ICM, Kannur The institute organized a three day workshop for the employees of Kannur District Cooperative Bank sponsored by NABARD on 27-29th July, 2015. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Tenkil, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Kerala Region. Shri A K Balakrishnan, President, Kannur District Cooperative Bank, presided over the function. ICM, Madurai A view of inaugural function of the Workshop Training Programme on Digital Locker, As a part of Digital India Week (1-7 July, 2015), the Institute organised a Training Programme on Digital Locker, in collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC), Madurai, on 1st July 2015. NIC officers conducted the training programme in which MBA students, faculty and staff participated. Venugopal IAS, Secretary (Cooperation), Govt. of Kerala & Member NCCT Committee on 15th July 2015. MBA programme 2015-17 Batch inaugurated by Shri K. Sivadasan Nair MLA, Chairman, Management Committee, ICM, Thiruvananthapuram & Governing Council Member, NCUI. A view of the inaugural function Hindi Pakhwara was observed by the Institute during the period 14.09.2015 to 27.09.2015. Various competitions including Elocution, Dictation, Essay writing was conducted for the staff and students. The Institute distributed Goats to the members of SC/ST Cooperatives under Goat Rearing Scheme of NCUI and Jazenchu Micro Projects 2014-15 implemented by NCUI Field Project at Thiruvananthapuram. Shri. G.Suresh, Director attended the 37th FDP at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad during the period 08th June 2015 to 26th September 2015. ICM, Nagpur Leadership Development Programme The Institute conducted Leadership Development Programme for the Chairmen and Directors of UCBs and Thrift & Credit Cooperatives from 1st July, 2015 to 3rd July, 2015 sponsored by NCCE, New Delhi.
