Fairfield University Rugby Sponsorship Proposal

Fairfield Red Ruggers Use Rugby To Promote Your Business 2017/2018 Club Officers President: Tim Johnston 18 Vice President: Michael Sweetman 19 Forwards Capitan: Hunter Boesch 18 Backs Capitan: Joaquin Moraiz 18 Match Secretaries: Jamison Wellman 18 and Michael Roche 19 2017/2018 Coaches Ben Kelly: Coach Kelly has years of experience coaching and playing international rugby. Along with rugby he is a Crossfit athlete and owner of the Crossfit gym BK Athletics in Fairfield, CT where the Red Ruggers train. Marc Downes: Coach Downes has played and coached on the local and international level of elite rugby. As well as helping develop Forward strategy for the Fairfield Men's Rugby Team in Fairfield, CT. For the past four years they have coached alongside one another and use their expertise to help develop a stronger team. Following an impressive 2017/2018 regular season, the Fairfield Men s Rugby Team is seeking sponsorship in exchange for the benefit of having your company s logo & name featured on the team s uniform and be publicly associated with Fairfield University Men's Rugby as we enter our inaugural season in the Division I A Liberty Rugby Conference. The conference spans a majority of New England and New York which entails broad visibility against recognized competition featured in the Liberty Conference. The Fairfield Rugby community reaches affluent families, which allows for name recognition of your company in high profile areas such as Boston and Fairfield. A Fairfield Rugby home game draws not only students and family members of players but people that live locally to the school, which total a few hundred people per match. Fairfield rugby holds values such as commitment, integrity, and teamwork in the highest regard. We wish to align ourselves with your business because of our shared value system and commitment to excellence. In the past four years, Fairfield Rugby has made great strides to excel at a high level on the field and also be an active member in the Fairfield University community and the local community through various volunteer events. Since 2014, FURFC has been able to move up from Division II to Division I AA, and now in 2017, Division I A. Sponsorship in FURFC would allow you to have a part in the growth of not only the rugby program itself, but the young men that are involved in the team. Sponsorship will also include your company s name and logo placement on the club kit, Facebook page, and the Friends of Fairfield Rugby website homepage. F.O.F.R., a 501 (c) (3) organization, has the ability to accept sponsorship funding through their non-profit corporation account which makes your sponsorship a tax deductible donation. Furthermore, in many instances advertising can be considered a deductible. How You Can Support the Team Rugby is the world s most exciting sport, growing 14% annually. It was featured in the 2016 Summer Olympics and receives national television coverage year round. For any and all inquiries contact Club President Tim Johnston o M: 908-577-4503 o E: timothy.johnston@student.fairfield.edu

About Fairfield Rugby Club The Fairfield University Rugby community is a tight knit group of both current studentsathletes and alumni. We have regular interactions with alumni at rugby matches and at meetings to discuss the direction of the club, plan out future goals, and review what we have accomplished during the year. F.U.R.F.C is lucky to have a dedicated and far reaching alumni network known as The Friends of Fairfield Rugby, who are a 501 (c)(3) organization and who over 1200 members strong and highly active in the Fairfield community. Throughout the Fall and Spring seasons, the teams practice and play on Grauert Field on campus. In April 1969, the Grauert family dedicated the LT. Hans Grauert Field on Fairfield s campus, the first and only field permanently designed, named and dedicated solely for rugby within the United States. In 2013 the club celebrated its 50 th Anniversary. To commemorate the milestone, the Friends of Fairfield Rugby hosted a gala on Fairfield s campus with over 700 in attendance and presented Fairfield University with an unrestricted gift of $75,000 to show their appreciation for supporting the club since its inception. Over the past 4 years Fairfield Rugby has taken strides forward and has not looked back. In the 2014 season, the Red Ruggers completed an undefeated regular season and went on to win the Tri-State championship for Division II rugby and was ranked in the top five teams in the country. In 2015 FURFC moved up to the Division I AA East Coast Rugby Conference. In 2016, FURFC place fourth in the East Coast Rugby Conference, then earned and won a playoff game. FURFC then moved up to the Division I A Liberty Rugby Conference for the Fall 2017 season. The Liberty Rugby Conference includes competition like Northeastern University, University of Connecticut, University of Massachusetts, Tufts University, University of Rhode Island and Fordham University. The team consists of a majority of Dean s List students, among whom includes current and previous heads of student run organizations on campus. The student-athletes on the team also participate in on campus volunteer events such as the Fairfield Week of Service to raise money for Paul Newman s Hole in the Wall Gang Organization and off campus organization like COBRA, which is an organization that teaches rugby to kids in Bridgeport. The Fairfield women have had an impressive past few years as well. In 2014, the Ruggers elevated the program to Division II status in the recently formed Tri-State Collegiate Rugby Conference. A notable 2016 Fall ended with a 5-1 record, a respectable playoff run, the women repeated their 2016 in 2017 where they went 5-2 and made it to the playoffs again. They look to continue this into 2018. Fairfield University is led by President Mark Nemec, who is a Yale University Rugby Alumni and still plays the game. Fairfield University has a student body of 5000 graduate and undergraduate students. Fairfield is a Jesuit institution and instills the concept of Cura Personalis into its students, which translates to care for the whole person. Our rugby team shares the same beliefs which have helped young men on the team to grow physically, mentally, and morally strong. As a sponsor to Fairfield Rugby you can connect your brand with the dynamic, growing sport of rugby and the highly successful Fairfield University men s team. The Fairfield University rugby team wishes to combine its successful program with your business to bring you a valuable audience of active, affluent adults and families in the New England area.

Fairfield Lady Ruggers The Women's Rugby Club at Fairfield University was founded as a sport club in 1994. During the fall '13 season, the club enjoyed a spirited and competitive weekend on October 5, joining with the men's club to celebrate 50 years of rugby play at Fairfield. Over the years, the women have established a solid program, competing against regional teams in the greater New England area. 2017/2018 Club Officers President: Ginny Galante 18 Vice President: Sarah McHale 18 Forward Capitan: Kendall Pieri 18 Back Capitan: Julie Moser 19 Match Secretary: Genna Baffuto 19 Treasurer: Kelsey Persechini 18 2017/2018 Coaches Jack Wallace: Jack has over 15 years of rugby experience at both the collegiate and club level. A lifelong resident of Fairfield, Jack has played for Fairfield Prep, Providence College, and the Fairfield Yankees. Eric Anahory: Eric has years of experience both playing and coaching at the collegiate and club level. Most notably playing for the New York Lions. He has also helped to develop a strategy for Lady Rugger s back line. For the past two years they have coached alongside one another and use their expertise to help develop a stronger team. In 2014, the Ruggers elevated the program to Division II status in the recently formed Tri-State Collegiate Rugby Conference. Divisional opponents include: Hofstra, RPI, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY New Paltz and Stony Brook University. All league competition occurs during the fall academic semester. A native of Fairfield and a 2006 graduate of Fairfield Prep, Jack brings both extensive coaching and playing experience (Fairfield Prep, Providence College, Fairfield Yankees) to the Fairfield University program.
