From the Rector I m looking forward to the return of the children to our school in the coming days. I really miss their presence here over the summer: the music of their voices and the audible buzz of their energy zipping through and around our buildings. They bring such vibrancy to our campus and are a constant reminder that God continues to make all things new. I am grateful for this tangible expression of God s goodness, and for all the gifts our school brings to our Saint Mark s community. Last Wednesday, our Vestry approved the recommendation of our Organist Search Committee to fund the position at a level commensurate with the education and experience of our strongest candidates. This vote represented a significant increase in our budget, another leap of faith for our parish. The very next morning, a check was delivered to us from the school. It was the check for our portion of the profits from last spring s church and school fundraiser, our annual auction and dinner. The school parents and staff, along with our church volunteers, work incredibly hard to create this celebratory fundraiser, and we divide the proceeds equally. The church includes in our budget each year $20,000.00 as our portion of the projected income from this event. The check we received this year was for $35,500.00 and change. The well-timed and surprising grace of this additional income is a safety net under our latest leap. I laughed out loud, and then emailed the Vestry. God s Spirit is zipping through this place, church and school. God continues to be at the business of making us new creations. For all the blessings of the years past, and for all the new life coming to and through our community, praise God! It s going to be another exciting year! Faithfully, Pastor Carri+

Rock n Roll Fest 2014: Save the date November 8 The Fall Fest may be in November but preparations are underway and we need your help to make it happen. There are a number of ways to participate such as procuring craft donations and pricing of items, build a new fair booth, work on signage, or donate empty and clean eggs for confetti eggs. Please consider helping in some way! This fundraiser generates important and necessary funds for our church and requires many hands. Contact Karen Sessions by email at ksessions1@gmail.com to volunteer! Crafts Booth At the Rock n Roll Fall Fest this year the craft booth Chic Boutique will feature three items for sale: quality handmade jewelry, wreaths, and knitted/crocheted items. Janis Rosebrook and Marti Farley, co-chairs, know very talented parishioners are out there who can help us fill the booth with handmade bracelets, earrings, hair clips, brooches, knitted scarves, sweaters, and baby items. Plus how about crafty people who make wreaths for home decor that wow us all? Please contact us if you are willing to donate your talents. Our contact information is mandjfarley@earthlink.net and janis.rosebrook@icloud.com. The fest is November 8, so start crafting now! Hello from Parker I am beyond excited to join the staff and wonderful community of Saint Mark s. You have greeted me with open arms and have already made me feel at home. Saint Mark s is a special place where Christ s love is shared and felt. Undoubtedly you know this, but it bears repeating. I look forward to getting to know each of you as we worship and play together in this space. Over the next few months, I am most excited about hearing your hopes and dreams for Saint Mark s and for children, youth, and family ministries here. The program is healthy, vibrant, and dynamic. I cannot wait to work together to grow and strengthen what you have already established. Whether you are a parent, youth, child, or parishioner who cares about this ministry, I want to hear from you. I have reserved time for group conversation on the afternoon of September 7. If you are not a parent of someone in the program, please call or email me to schedule a time to meet. I will typically be in the office Sunday Thursday of each week. Please feel free to call, email, or text me anytime. I look forward to meeting you and beginning our work together!
