2015 Annual ReportReport 2015 Annual Scholarship History Bloomington Kennedy 2015 Scholarship Recipients Awarded $290,634 to Bloomington seniors In the past ten years Presented $53,500 in scholarships with $11,000 provided by the Foundation s Endowment Fund in Fiscal Year 2015 Senior Scholarships Honored 51 seniors in the Class of 2015 with scholarships for a combination of achievement, involvement and demonstrated need Philip Punoose The Foundation awards scholarships to Jefferson and Kennedy High School seniors each spring. Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, school and community organizations, and individuals, the Foundation continues its tradition of honoring its high school graduates. High School Senior By awarding me this scholarship, you have eased my financial burden, which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school: learning.your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me. Bloomington Jefferson 2015 Scholarship Recipients

CFT History Donated $73,249 for school lunches over the last ten years Served an estimated 30,000 lunches using CFT funds Provided $14,729 in lunches for students in need in Fiscal Year 2015 Marlene Baune Food Service Manager An unexpected loss of a job, doctor bills or car repairs impact our families all the time. These situations can cause a temporary financial crisis for families. We have some kids in these situations who go home after school and there is nothing to eat, let alone any money to pay for school lunches. CFT is the perfect solution for these situations, because it allows us to act quickly to help kids without going through an elaborate approval process. Children s Food For Thought Children s Food for Thought is an important program of the. CFT provides nourishing school lunches for students when their families have a financial crisis. Whether the family has a temporary financial setback, doesn't qualify for federal food assistance or is in the process of applying for aid Children's Food for Thought is here to help. Since Children's Food for Thought was launched ten years ago, it has provided $73,249 for more than 30,000 nourishing lunches for our Bloomington Public School students. Feeding Bloomington s Hungry Children

Stipend History Provided stipends totaling $54,096 to Bloomington students in need over the past ten years Donated $4,926 in Student Success Stipends in Fiscal Year 2015 to help Bloomington youth enrich their learning Teacher Stipend Request Language Arts Many of our students are on the free and reduced lunch program. For these students, paying to see an actual stage play is out of the question. This will be the first, and possibly only, opportunity for many of them to actually see a live performance. Language Arts Field Trip - funded 20 students in 2015 Student Success Stipends Our Student Success Stipend s program offers financial assistance to students who need help with basic educational needs as well as those who need financial support to pursue educational enrichment activities. Our support ranges from helping those who may need back packs, school supplies and bus passes to helping provide extracurricular activities in Art, Science, Mathematics, Language Arts and Social Studies. Prodigy History Awarded $25,350 in the past ten years to recognize superior staff and administration contributions Honored four teams from the 2014-15 school year for a total of $1,500 Nomination Letter Media Center Team "This team does an outstanding job running the media center. Individually, they each work far beyond what is expected of them to ensure the media center is a place where everyone s academic, emotional, and creative needs can be met. Together, they optimize positively, encouragement, and perseverance. In all my school experience, this is the first team of staff I ve ever seen be as beloved and appreciated by students as they are by their fellow colleagues and by parents. Jefferson High School Media Center Team Prodigy Awards Research, Evaluation & Assessment Team The s Prodigy Awards, sponsored by former Bloomington Public School teacher Patrick Porter, recognize superb teamwork that improves the educational environment within Bloomington Public Schools. Nominations are submitted every year to recognize groups of colleagues who demonstrate outstanding teamwork in the following categories: Superb Administrative Teamwork: teams of administrators and school and District support staff Superb Staff Teamwork: all other non-administrative staff which may include parents, students or community members Oak Grove Middle School Physical Education Team Kennedy High School One Act Play

2015 Annual ReportReport 2015 Annual Innovation Grant History Awarded $138,016 in classroom Innovation Grants in the past ten years Suspended program in Fiscal Year 2015; requests funded under Student Stipends until program resumes Grant Recipient Bloomington Public Schools "An Innovation Grant was awarded to the Indian Education Program of the Bloomington Schools to purchase authentic materials to be included in Learning Trunks that could be checked out by staff and travel inter-district to different classrooms as a class learns about the history of the American Indian. These trunks are designed to supplement current curriculum (following current standards) and be available over the years throughout the district." Innovation Grants Classroom Innovation Grants enable teachers to explore and evaluate creative instructional projects that meet their students learning needs. Successful grant proposals must define expected learning results and the evaluation method to be used in measuring results.

Chip in for Schools Golf Classic The Education Foundation of Bloomington hosted its largest fundraiser of the year in July. The day included golfing, contests, awards program and barbecue dinner. The EFB raised over $35,000 to improve and change the educational experience of our Bloomington public school students.thank you to our generous sponsors: Kraus-Anderson, Siemens, Corporate Health Systems, Mall of America, PreferredOne, Bloomington Noon Rotary, Master Technology Group, Metro Sales, Rasmussen College, Premier Electrical Corporation, Wold Architects & Engineering, Twin Cities Orthopedics, American Legion Post #550, Stephen & Karin Bariteau, Bloomington Federation of Teachers, Consulting Radiologists, Delta Dental of MN, Ehlers, Hillyard, INSPEC, Joan Roisum Insurance, Larkin Hoffman Daly & Lindgren, TRIA, Wells Fargo Advisors LLC, Dahlen Sign Golf: Mall of America Sponsorship Team & Student Volunteers Over 2,000 books were distributed to children of all ages in Bloomington s Heritage Days Parade The Bloomington Federation of Teachers sponsored a Retro Prom fundraiser to benefit the Foundation s Senior Scholarship recipients The EFB lost a treasured friend, tireless volunteer and former Board member, Arlene Bush Special thanks to those who served the EFB in accomplishing its mission: Tom Holton, Karen Cook - Retired Board Members Denise Thoen, Mary Mooney, Virg Senescall, Kathy Sweeney, Therese Siiro, numerous community members and Bloomington Public School Staff - Golf Planning Committees Sydney Foy, Tyler Riemersma, Jack Tillotson - Student Volunteers
