This list represents nearly $5 million dollars in merit scholarships offered to students in the Class of 2017, and it includes only those offers which students communicated in writing to the College Counseling Office. Baylor University President s Gold Scholarship, recognizing academic excellence, $22,000/year, $88,000 over four years. Belmont University General Academic Merit Scholarship, awarded to admitted freshmen with academic credentials that meet or exceed the University's freshman class profile, $6,000/year, $24,000 over four years. Bucknell University Presidential Fellowship recognizing academic excellence, $80,000 over four years, with an annual $1,500 research grant, and an assigned professor mentor. The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, awarded to students who demonstrate purposeful leadership, intellectual curiosity, strength of character and collaborative spirit. 18 students from Duke and 18 students from UNC Chapel Hill are selected annually. Benefits include funding for tuition, room, board, mandatory fees, three summer experiences, up to two semesters of study abroad tuition, grants and travel expenses related to attending conferences and symposiums. $300,000 over four years. Eckerd College Founders Academic Achievement Scholarship, Eckerd College's highest scholarship for outstanding academic achievement, $21,000/year, $84,000 over four years. Duke Energy Scholarship Awarded for academic excellence, leadership, participation in school & community activities, honors, awards, and work experience. $5,000/year, $20,000 over four years. National Merit Scholarship Corporation National Merit Scholarship, $2,500 National Merit Scholarship Corporation Citizen Watch Scholarship Awarded for academic excellence and participation in high school sports teams and other extracurricular activities. In addition each student is awarded a CITIZEN timepiece valued at ~$250 and their name will be featured in a national ad created by CITIZEN in the New York Times in the spring.
