Some professionals confront the ethical issues head-on, while others tend to turn away. Moral courage helps individuals to address ethical issues and take action when doing the right thing is scary and risky. When nurses stand up and speak out about prescription or medical errors, about lapses in patient care, the need for additional regulation or legislation, they do this as part of their obligation as the patient advocate.
