Statements & Search Criteria Mission To reduce the impact of all cancers on all people in Tennessee through education, research, advocacy, service, collaboration, and networking. Background The TN Cancer Consortium was established in 2004, and became a nonprofit in 2015 after a member vote. The Consortium has a variety of programs including breast health education, childhood cancer awareness, colorectal cancer education, HPV education, and radon awareness. Over the years, we have been honored by the CDC for our innovative approaches to cancer education, and our statewide and regional implementation of programs. Impact The Tennessee Cancer Consortium is a statewide volunteer-based organization with over 400 members across six regions of the state. The Consortium mobilizes efforts to address all cancers, including working jointly with partners such as the Tennessee Department of Health regional offices, and other local, state, and national organizations through a variety of activities. Needs The Consortium is a new nonprofit and would benefit from capacity and operations building funding. The organization relies on dedicated volunteers, many of whom have been involved over ten years, to develop and implement programs. The strong relationships that exist between partnering organizations and the Consortium are one of the many assets that aid in the many successful programs that have been conducted. There are many existing programs that could be continued and/or expanded, as well as new programs implemented with additional funding.
