Canada contributes $40 million to ending polio in Pakistan The government of Canada is providing $40 million over three years in support of Pakistan s polio eradication program. The funds will help the World Health Organization and UNICEF interrupt transmission of the wild poliovirus in Pakistan. Canada is the fifth-highest per capita donor to polio eradication, with over $500 million committed to date. It coordinates its efforts closely with Rotary, matching Rotarians contributions during fundraising campaigns. Morris at the annual Quad Cities Dinner on Tuesday, May 24th. Margaret McCaughey, Margie Wallin, Bruce Godsave, Sally Heitzman, Chris Rider, John Lanpher, Steve Wiener, Carol Carey, Art Hatton, President Mary Kay and her husband John enjoyed the buffet dinner at Caledonia Country Club. Guest speaker for the event was Bulent Ozdemir, Director of the Turkish Cultural Center of Rochester. He said the goal of the Center was to bring people of all faiths together to promote dialogue, friendship and understanding about different world cultures. President-Elect Tim Hayes, John Lanpher, John Yanik, and Art Hatton participated in the Quad Cities golf outing that afternoon. Cal-Mum was host club for the event and Geneseo will host the Quad Cities get together next year. (Submitted by PP Art Hatton)
