Parkview Health Vice President of Nursing Informatics 1 Organization Overview Headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Parkview Health serves as northeast Indiana s largest not-forprofit, community-owned healthcare system. Parkview operates six acute care facilities, a behavioral health hospital, a tertiary care center and through a joint venture, an orthopedic specialty hospital, with a combined total of 893 beds in service, numerous specialty centers, a large integrated employed physician group, and has revenues of more than $1.7 billion with almost 11,000 employees. Parkview has been serving the Fort Wayne area since 1878 as Fort Wayne City Hospital. Parkview Health as it is known today was formed in 1995 with a heritage of care and compassion that continues through a comprehensive continuum of health care services. The comprehensive continuum includes acute, non-acute, and tertiary care services on an inpatient, outpatient and emergency basis, managed care services, diagnostic and therapeutic services, continuing care services includes home health care, hospice, skilled nursing, and in-patient rehab, and behavioral health care. In addition, there is primary and specialty physician care, a pluralistic clinically integrated network, and research. Parkview is guided by a strategic plan which covers the period from 2016 to 2020 ( Parkview 2020 ). Fundamental to Parkview 2020 is achieving world class teamwork which involves further integration of the System s leadership, employees, physician group, service lines, facilities and support areas into the One Parkview Team. Parkview 2020 focuses on expanding and improving the System s health care services and maintaining the System s financial conditions and results. Parkview Health Vice President of Nursing Informatics 3 Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center - Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited Comprehensive Community Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons, receiving recertification in 2015. It is a brand-new state of the art facility that opened in 2018. The Cancer Center is a 5-story, 175,000 square feet facility in a wide-open park-like setting. Parkview Ortho Hospital - Parkview Ortho Hospital is the first specialty hospital in northeastern Indiana devoted solely to orthopedic surgery and post-surgery patient care. Parkview Hospital Randallia - Located in Fort Wayne, this is a 184-bed community hospital offering a 24/7 Emergency Department, all new family birthing center, surgical services, ICU, diagnostic testing, skilled nursing care, rehabilitation and more. Construction and renovations are in process to invest $55 million into enhancing the Parkview Hospital Randallia campus. Parkview Health Vice President of Nursing Informatics 4 Parkview Physicians Group - Six physicians formed a primary care department of Parkview Hospital in 1995. In 1997, 43 affiliated physicians establish Parkview Medical Group (PMG), which in 2009 became Parkview Physicians Group (PPG). Parkview Health Vice President of Nursing Informatics 6 Position Summary The Vice President Nursing Informatics will provide visionary leadership for informatics to deliver improved efficiency, safety, information use and clinical decision making for the entire care team through the use of clinical information systems. He/she will leverage technology to drive clinical transformation as well as the development and implementation of systems and solutions in support of nursing and clinical best practice. This future VP Nursing Informatics will serve as a liaison between clinicians, ancillary departments, and Information Technology (IT) to align clinical and IT standards with department workflow, processes, and policies. The VP will act as a change agent for health system leaders and clinicians to promote adoption of new processes, technologies and achievement; and sustainment of expected benefits, therefore moving the organization to achieve excellence. In partnership with multidisciplinary colleagues from the local and system levels, the VP will engage in development of informatics strategies to help Parkview achieve its vision, goals, and strategies. He/she will serve as a member of the system Nursing Informatics Council and will collaborate with the senior leadership team to determine the best solutions for Parkview s consumers, patients, and the entire care delivery team to develop the informatics structure and governance to support the system and its initiatives. This key leader will work closely with the Chief Nursing Executive and Chief Information Officer to leverage the various systems capabilities to improve the delivery of highly effective and efficient care that enables better health, better care at lower costs. The VP Nursing Informatics will serve as a champion for complex nursing projects and technical systems that support efficiency and effectiveness for clinical users with the goal of advancing evidence-based practice and standard work. He/she will facilitate the integration of data, information, knowledge, and wisdom to support patients, consumers, and care teams in clinical decision-making across the continuum of care. The VP will also serve as the primary nursing informatics advisor to the CNE and CIO in support of nursing and clinical practice including clinical support and ancillary teams. Reporting Relationships The Vice President of Nursing Informatics will report directly to the system Chief Nurse Executive and will have a dual "matrix" reporting relationship to the CIO. There is currently a team of Epic Partners that are within the Information Services division that work within all of the Epic Applications that have responsibility for optimization for all clinical applications that will work with the VP Nursing Informatics to advance nursing related informatics/application initiatives. The VP will lead and direct their work as it relates to Nursing Informatics matters. Responsibilities The successful Vice President of Nursing Informatics candidate will: Serves as the strategic liaison for health IT efforts representing nursing and clinical needs. In conjunction with Parkview Health Leadership, develops clinical systems strategies related to implementation and optimization. Continually evaluates outcomes and implements action plans for process improvement. Creates, evaluates and implements innovative concepts that enhance the overall efficiency, service and quality outcomes of Parkview Health. Incorporates nursing research and evidence-based nursing knowledge into nursing informatics practice. Effectively manages and is a good steward of Parkview s resources. Holds co-workers accountable to provide the highest level of care and service to patients, physicians, and peers.

Parkview Health Vice President of Nursing Informatics 7 Coordinates and collaborates with administrative teams, clinical leaders, Information Technology, financial services and quality/regulatory/risk management in the development of high quality and innovative clinical information systems that assist the clinicians in their delivery of care. Responsible for ensuring quality improvement efforts are consistent with promoting informatics research, regulatory bodies, and guidelines as well as evidence based practice that supports positive clinical outcomes. Ensures coordination and integration of standard of care practices across all clinical departments for quality patient care. Ensures coworkers complete all training and education as required. Achieves service excellence goals that are consistent with Parkview Health goals. Demonstrates commitment to service with a passionate desire to improve the patient experience. Supports Parkview s commitment of Excellent Service to Every Person, Every day. Uses personal influence to align and motivate co-workers energy toward goal achievement. Provides recommendation/input and support to medical staff committees and leadership to assigned task forces to ensure effective governance of Parkview Health and positive, engaged medical staff relationships; acts as a liaison to external affiliations to maintain sound business relations with hospital business partners and influencers. Develops, nurtures, sustains, and continually builds relationships with physician leaders. Serves as the champion of new ideas and best practice in nursing informatics. Parkview Health Vice President of Nursing Informatics 8 Goals and Objectives The following goals and objectives have been identified as priorities for this position: Partner with senior management and become fully integrated into the leadership team of Parkview Health. Be perceived as a solid team player who has credibility, integrity, accountability and contributes as a subject matter expert in nursing informatics. Perform an overall assessment of nursing informatics to gain an understanding of the current state and develop a set of expectations and deliverables that will move the overall clinical strategic plan forward and that is aligned with the mission and goals of Parkview Health. Gain insight and familiarity with current projects and initiatives within the scope of informatics to understand, create or revise a plan for success. Become a respected and integral part of the Nursing and Information Technology teams; develop a sense of personal ownership for the future success of the function and system. Identify the key stakeholders in the system as it relates to informatics and build strong working relationships with them. Effectively manage the portfolio of informatics and project management initiatives. This will include prioritizing requests, implementing new applications and working with internal customers. Work with Nursing team to identify opportunities to further optimize the Epic and electronic process to reduce delay in care, reduce variation in care, increase standardization, and increase nursing efficiency. Review and recommend applications that can make a positive impact on nursing efficiency and improvement in clinical outcomes.

Parkview Health Vice President of Nursing Informatics 9 Candidate Qualifications Education/Licensure Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. Master's Degree is required with an MSN or Masters in Informatics preferable. Current or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana. Knowledge and Work Experience Seven years of clinical nursing experience required, including experience in computer-based nursing systems. Must have 5-7 years experience in a leadership role. Previous Information Systems, super-user, business intelligence, and utilization of analytics experience preferred. Clinical management experience, with an understanding of operational and clinical delivery requirements within a hospital/health system or other environment of similar complexity is required. Experience leading large-scale change efforts of significant complexity and importance involving clinicians is required as well as proven experience integrating change management principles and concepts into effective methodologies. Experience in continuous process improvement, evidence-based medicine, patient safety, standardization through clinical pathway, implementation and strategic project management. Experience successfully implementing multiple complex projects simultaneously using structured project management methodology. Expertise in analyzing and implementing organizational systems, both technical and nontechnical to support business needs; experience with business-process mapping and Lean methodologies is highly desired. Additional Requirements Have the ability to thoughtfully communicate with and respectfully engage diverse stakeholders around a shared vision for achieving results. Have executive level presentation skills. Have proven ability as a visionary to see the big picture but also dive into the details when necessary. Have working knowledge of the Epic electronic health record system and applicable certifications are preferred.
