ANCA Leo Sarkisian Internship 2017 APPLICATION PACKET JUNE 19 - AUGUST 11, 2017 POSTMARK DEADLINE - MARCH 1, 2017

Established in 1986, the ANCA has been a cornerstone of the ANCA s nationwide efforts to educate, motivate, and activate Armenian American youth to expand advocacy efforts in their home towns and campuses. Named in memory of the late ANCA Eastern US community leader who spearheaded grassroots activism to advance the Armenian Cause for more than four decades, the Leo Sarkisian Internship (LSI) Program now has hundreds of alumni across the world, spreading the message of truth and justice for the Armenian Genocide, freedom for Artsakh, and a secure, prosperous, and democratic Armenian homeland. During the eight week Washington, DC program, interns live at the ANCA Hovig Saghdejian Capital Gateway House, located a short distance from the ANCA National Headuarters. The participants work on a wide variety of projects based on their individual interests, while gaining hands-on experience within the American political system. A bi-weekly lecture series features guest lecturers including Members of Congress, ambassadors, and Armenian American leaders. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Deadlines - All portions of this application must be completed and returned to the correct ANCA regional office in a timely fashion. All application materials must be postmarked by March 1, 2017, and mailed to the appropriate regional office. The ANCA office in Washington, DC does not interview or select LSI participants. All decisions on LSI participants are made soley by the ANCA Western Region and ANCA Eastern Region. 2. ANCA Eastern Region - Applicants residing in the following states/areas should submit their materials to the ANCA Eastern Region - AL, AR, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, PR, RI, SC, TN, VA, VI, VT, WI, and WV. 3. ANCA Western Region - Applicants residing in the following states/areas should submit their materials to the ANCA Western Region - AK, AS, AZ, CA, CO, GU, HI, ID, KS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, and WY. 4. Completed Applications - A completed application includes the three-page form, personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and all transcripts. Materials may be submitted individually. 5. Personal Statement - Applicants must submit a personal statement, no longer than two pages typed, that answers the following uestion: What do you hope to learn during your eight-week stay in Washington, DC, and how will you use your acuired skills and ideas to further Hai Tahd in your own community? 6. Letters of Recommendation - Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from two individuals, not related to you, with knowledge of your abilitlies and ualifications. One of the letters should be from an individual who can speak of your involvement in the Armenian American community. The letters should be accompanied by the recommendation forms included in this application packet. Applicants must mark the appropriate ANCA Regional Office box to specify where the recommendation should be sent. 7. Transcripts - Applicants must submit all college / university level trancripts. Unofficial copies are acceptable.
