PROGRAM SCHEDU Registration and Breakfast 8 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Recent Developments in Apportionment Law 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. Apportionment guru and former judge, Raymond Correio, will present the latest tools for understanding this very complicated subject. By focusing on the mechanics of recent case law, he will analyze how the various key issues have been handled and explain developing trends, so parties can protect their client against potential traps and gotchas. A must see program for anyone litigating permanent disability and apportionment, in the current workers compensation arena. Speaker: Raymond Correio, Encino BREAK 10 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Little Known Labor Code Sections and Cases 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. This best practices session focuses on how to effectively evaluate and prepare your case for trial while utilizing hidden treasures found in the Labor Code, Regulations and case law. Renowned Judges Jamie Spitzer and Eric Ledger will provide trial and posttrial practice tips, as well as an update as to recent case law developments. Whether you are trying to rebut the strict rating of the AMA Guides or establish that the strict rating, the evidence you collect will be critical to this issue. From taking depositions to requesting supplemental medical reports, these top litigation specialists will outline the best procedures to use to prove your client s case. Speakers: Presiding Judge Jamie Spitzer, Anaheim Judge Eric Ledger, Oakland Commissioner s Update 11:20 a.m. - 11:50 a.m. Be the first to hear important legal updates from the Workers Compensation Appeals Board. Speaker: Commissioner Jose Razo, San Francisco Lunch Included 11:50 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

LE Acing the Doctor s Deposition 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. The fulcrum of any properly litigated impairment rating is to ensure the medical exhibits you present at trial constitute substantial medical evidence. Much of the time, the physician s deposition is key to that process. Judge Robert Rassp will provide a step-by-step approach to taking the physician s deposition to successfully meet your client s burden of proof. Speaker: Judge Robert Rassp, Los Angeles Unique Rating Issues - Hikida and Beyond 1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Complex regional pain syndrome can be a significantly disabling injury. However, many practitioners and doctors may struggle with correctly diagnosing and/or rating CRPS injuries. As seen in the recent Hikida decision, there are significant questions of apportionment and causation depending on how the CRPS develops, which has far reaching implications for all disability rating cases. In this panel, board certified anesthesiology and pain management physician, Dr. Lynn Cintron, joins expert litigator Glenn Olsen to dissect the do s and don ts of diagnosing, rating, and apportioning CRPS injuries. Speakers: Glenn Olsen, Burlingame Dr. Lynn Cintron, M.D., San Jose AMA Guides - Case Law Update 2018 2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. The afternoon session concludes with one of our favorite programs, the case law update focusing on issues related to utilizing the AMA Guides to rate disability Acclaimed defense attorney Richard Montarbo, will bring you a detailed analysis of the hottest cases that affect the way you practice. From published DCA opinions to recent panel decisions applying unique aspects of the AMA Guides, this presentation can t be missed! Speaker: Richard Montarbo, Red Bluff
