Letter from Mr. Hamilton At the end of each day, for the next few months during announcements, I will be talking to all the students about 55 rules for the classroom. These 55 rules come from Ron Clark s book, The Essential 55. Ron Clark is a teacher and author known for helping to raise students test scores by using clever strategies that incorporate innovation, creativity, and 55 rules for the classroom. He has appeared on numerous television shows, received the 2000 Teacher of the Year award from Disney, and was the focus of a 2006 movie, The Ron Clark Story, based on his first year spent in Harlem as a teacher. This week we are discussing rules six, eleven, and fifteen which have to do with common courtesy, random acts of kindness, and not asking for rewards. Many of these rules have to do with The Golden Rule, treating others as you wish to be treated. The school staff would like to carry this message into the month of October, to take a more positive approach to the familiar Anti-Bullying Month theme. If you wish to learn more about Ron Clark and his book, The Essential 55, here is a link for you, http://k6educators.about.com/cs/classroommanageme3/a/essential55.htm. Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. - Matthew 7:12 In Christ and Education, Steve Hamilton

There is only one account needed per school family. Logging volunteer hours in the TIF system allows you to differentiate who the participant is for each event. Meaning, if three of your family members helped for one event, you log it three times, indicating the volunteer name each time. Signing up to help with an event does not require an account. We've set up the events calendar so that anyone in our parish family can sign up without an account. So if Grandma or Grandpa wants to help with concessions at the volleyball game, they can sign up without an account. OR you can use your account to sign up and give Grandma or Grandpa's name in the notes. It's up to you! As always, if you have any questions about volunteer opportunities or using Track It Forward, please contact Christine Rowe at christineleffler@yahoo.com Christine is happy to help.
