Twenty-five young men between the ages of 13 and 18 from the Flint/Genesee County area participated in the 6-hour workshop. The session, which followed Model 1 of the curriculum provided by the National Office, was supplemented with a teenage father panel discussion and an HIV/AIDS Awareness workshop conducted by Mr. Willie Smith from the local health department. Go to High School, Go to College: Workshop was be held on December 14, 2014, at Mott Community College Wagner Building during our collaborative Alpha Week Activities with Theta Tau Chapter. We had approximately 25 high school age males who participated in workshops that covered topics, such as financial aid, college admission processes, and life on a college campus. Another component of the local chapter s Go to High School, Go to College program is an annual visit to a historically Black college or university (HBCU). This year ten brothers from Epsilon Upsilon Lambda and Theta Tau Chapters escorted 28 young men to visit North Carolina A&T during the weekend of October 23-26, 2014. This trip included a tour of the college, also visits with college admissions, and financial aid. The young men also were able to attend the step-show and homecoming football game. a. Local Program Activity: Big Brother, Big sisters: Our partnership with the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Flint entered its 7 th year during 2014. Currently, five Alpha Men serve as Big Brothers to boys between the ages of 6 and 15. As part of regular meetings with the boys, movie/game nights, bowling outings, pizza parties, a chess seminar, and a trip to the Pistons basketball game became part of the partnership experience. The chapter donated school supplies and served as big for a day. Separately, Brothers Robert Matthews, Sam Wells, and Terrell Holland have been very active with the 100 Men 100 Boys program. Brothers from the Epsilon Upsilon Lambda and Theta Tau Chapters collaborated to form several teams that participated in the 2014 Big Brothers, Big Sisters Bowl-A-thon, which is one of their major fundraisers. On October 27, 2014, several brothers participated in the March of Dimes 2014, Silent Chef Auction. MLK Program: We conducted our 10 th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. program on January 19, 2014. The program was held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The event consisted of song, dance and spoken word performed by youth from the city of Flint. Bishop Urandi Knox, Pastor of the Ebenezer Ministries, delivered the keynote address. Over 400 people attended the program, which received coverage from the local newspaper and television outlets.
