Hello again Legion members. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Well here we are nearing the end of January and the weather has been very un-winter like. Except for that little slush attack we had in December, this has been a mostly delightful season. The bar area was at max capacity during New Year s eve day and evening. That continued into the New Year s Eve dinner of steak, seafood and chicken. There was a good turnout for that meal. The staff performed admirably, including the General manager and Office manager. Also the turnout for Tom & Jerry s on Jan. 6 th was tremendous. We had upwards of 85 members and non-members participate. Special thanks to Joe Tappainer for mixing those hot totties. Also thanks to 2 nd vice- commander Rodney Southwick for procuring the meal, which was donated by Greg s meats of Hampton. He supervised the food line and made sure the chaffing dishes were never empty. Also kudos to the kitchen staff for preparing the food and having it ready to go at 1:00 PM. We also got the 5 Charters for the Legion and Auxiliary matted and in new frames They ve been hung in the hallway adjacent to the restrooms. Thank you John Hunter and Dave Riha for hanging them. If you have a chance to stop by them, take a minute to look. The appearance is quite stunning. ~~ Until next month Commander Dick. American Legion Post 1776 14521 Granada Drive Apple Valley MN 55124 Valentines Day 02-14-2019 Jim asked his friend, Tony whether he had bought his wife anything for Valentine's Day. Yes,' came the answer from Tony who was a bit of a chauvinist, 'I've bought her a belt and a bag.'that was very kind of you,' Jim added, 'I hope she appreciated the thought.' Tony smiled as he replied, 'So do I, and hopefully the vacuum cleaner will work better now.' Don t be like Jim! Come and celebrate with your Valentine at Post 1776.com. LOVE is in the air!
