Friday March 6, 2015 Board of Directors Meeting Began at 9:00am Welcome-Introductions & Breakup into Committees (President Doug Boser) Those present: Allison Josephson, Erin Meine, Terry Bernardy, Dorothy Radermacher, Shona McCue, Gail Schwanbeck, Sue Zins, Sue Tackaberry, Sonja Christensen, Carmen Williams, Tracy Madsen, Ardel Sterns Judy Mattock, Doug Boser, Committee Groups Regional Meetings more volunteers needed Metro none planned and censes is that this is ok not to do anything about this. These members can go where ever they would like to go. Southeast April 24th St. Charles, MN - Gail Schwanbeck is working on this Southwest- Tuesday April 28th Workshop lined up in Fulda with US Foods o Wednesday June 24th workshop in Fulda with Reinhart Food Service o Thursday August 27th workshop in Fulda with Martin Brothers Central Apperts, Friday May 8 th Here in St. Cloud at Apperts/Sysco o Tracy Madsen shared that she may do a regional meeting with a social event after. Northeast- Tuesday May 5 - Duluth partnered with Upper Lakes Food Show There will be preregistration for this event. We are also having a table at this Upper Lakes Food Show Northwest- not scheduled due to lack of time and effort for attendance to occur. West Central Alexandria Judy Mattock is working on this to be at Alexandria Technical College. o Marilyn Lehmkuhl is working with Dorothy on this. Focus Meetings Partnering with other organizations to supply education opportunities for our members Look at a retiring members beginning a workshop of what options are out there to remain involved in ANFP and staying active in our profession. o Class to participate in o Do you have a plan on what is available for those looking at retiring in the next 5 years, 10years, etc. Look at Budgets for each committee. State is also looking at charging a standard $25.00 for each education meeting that is offered from ANFP. Scholarship meeting is looking at first time member coming in to coming in for Free, person bringing them to would get a $10.00 discount so they would only pay $15.00 for attending this workshop. Looking at giving out coupons to new graduating students to attend a meeting for $25.00. Looking at recognizing new students and first time attendees.

Offering education opportunities by using what continuing education opportunities that nationals have available. Once completed the course, you may use this material to train your staff. Regional Meeting Needs Each regional meeting will be set up on an individual time basis with the partnering group/vendor. The money coming in after expenses may be determined if the proceeds will go to the education of MN foundation or to the general MN ANFP fund. Suggested Meeting Ideas brought up Follow up from last workshop Impact, legislative, Safe Food for Seniors Act, support Look at bringing Hunger Initiative at each regional meeting as we market food service profession Also looking at legislators to be a part of ANFP meetings ANFP needs to sell ourselves of who we are and what we do and the impact we have in people s lives We need people to help out in other areas of the state putting together regional meetings Promote the October workshop Do a safe the date card or a 3 fold brochure that includes the top reasons why administrator s should support this event Have the program on the 3 fold brochure This brochure can be provided at food shows Have just the post card with just a post card The general census is to o 3 fold brochure o Gail Schwanbeck made a motion to use the 3 fold brochure and seconded by Sonja Christensen Board Meeting and dinner will be the night before at the cost around $15.00 Look at having a wine and paint event in the evening between the first and second day Membership/Education- Review or develop P & P Kathyrn/Shar/Rosina This is on hold due to the changes that are being made so this update can be done one time instead of several times Education o How do we put our marketing pieces together to the Dietary Managers Courses students know who to mentor with o How to provide coupons for future state conferences to attend as a student/member if they completed the program to take the exam

o May need to look at being involved in the colleges to let national ANFP know so that they can help follow up and make the CDM ANFP training available to have testing made available, etc. We are always in need of volunteers to help out in this area Kathryn contact of inactive members The Issues the members of dropped members are having 6 people did not renew due to annual cost CE s to put in support on the national website We have 7 people who want to have MN newsletter sent to them to keep in touch in what MN is doing 1 person to rejoin the organization Where are we going forward o Conference call to where we are going o Cross reference roster from gmail and nationals to verify clarity and those eligible to vote o Those emails are going in the junk mail for the emails going out from ANFP, members need to be looking in there junk mail on a regular basis o Katheryn may go to gmail account to let the committee members of the membership will have conference call Education New students, Graduates, Available Programs Rosina Has been ill and not able to get things done Plan display for MN Chapter to be used at Fall Conference, Upper Lakes and Reinhart Food Shows. Fall Conference Theme: Nourish Our Body, Mind and Spirit Look for having T-Shirts made and a sign in sheet at the fall conference and prepay for these at this time Vendors who are at the vendor fair will be on the back of the Tee Shirt with the logo of Body, Mind, Spirit on the front Sonya is working on the program on the theme Chris is the person who is the Vendor Chair Looking at reducing the table cost to $150 from $300 as in the past. This may promote more vendors to participate Door prizes from the vendors and silent auction may be happening at the end of the vendor show so that people will stay at the vendor show and just go through and leave. Looking at doing some demo s and some hands on participation during the vendor show People must be present to win.

Having Colleen Zenk having the 4 hour refresher class, this can also be used as your sanitation CEU s, 1 hour attendance for 1 Sanitation hour or 4 hour attendance for 4 Sanitation hour This refresher class may be something to offer on an annual basis Secretary s Report Read by Terry Bernardy as Shar Dufner was not available Approved by Carmen Williams, Seconded by Erin Meine Treasurers Report Carmen Savings, $11,428.50; Checking $29,675.53; Total $41, 104.03. Rebate from Nationals of $1600.00 was received. State Conference was $17,934.01 total cost factor. Carmen is trying to increase options for savings to get more return on our money. Carmen is looking at ways to increase funds. Carmen is requesting to purchasing a new computer for the treasurer. This is a 2009 computer. It has not been updated since purchase. An outside out drive was suggested to purchase at this same time to back up. Avast is a security that is free and available. Go-to-meeting is being asked to be purchased for $600.00 for an annual purchase to support this program that can be used to support the conference call and having visuals for board and committee meetings. There may be some down falls to GoToMeeting. There may be other options are out there to serve the save purpose. Gail Schwanbeck will look into these options. Motion to approve the Treasurers Report by Gail Schwanbeck, seconded by Judy Mattock Gail Schwanbeck would like to make the motion to purchase a computer and external hard drive, not to exceed $1500 with programs and protection. Shona McCue seconded the motion. Looking at speed is more important than memory. Reports Each Committee or Project Group will have report as to what working on, action items for the board. Strategic Plan- Dorothy (9 people on the Strategic Planning Committee were surveyed and 6 people responded) Communication improve can be done by newsletters, emails, etc Relationship building Labor Force, budget cuts will be challenges Promote Foodservice as a Professional Career in our facilities on a community level Connect with and mentor new members making them feel welcome A presence at tradeshows, conferences, and with administrators Lifelong learning and career building o Who will be the next leader on the national level from Minnesota?? Tracy Madsen would like to pay it forward to mentor someone to be involved in MN ANFP Allison Josephson agreed to be our next president elect and was present to begin the learning process for the state conference Doug has done an amazing job and has truly blossomed

Communications-Website, Newsletter, Technology Linked In, Facebook, Email Terry/Dorothy New Newsletter is coming out next week. Terry is still willing to do the newsletter quarterly. Next deadline is May 15 th to submit items for next newsletter With the website we have done some things and waiting on nationals will do some new things on the state website Scholarship-Sue Tackaberry They met in January, they have a new application, with a policy and procedure that was passed around for approval Looking for ways to increase the number of scholarships this year. Looked at 12 different scholarships. o Registration to the state conference & lodging. o Terry recommended to spell out at the beginning of the application to see what the scholarships are for o Looked very strongly at the accountability of the scholarship and being fair o There is still one for the student scholarship, this new one is only for the MN Fall conference scholarship o Also looked at vendors doing some scholarship for the fall conference We need a motion to accept the policy, procedures and application form to use from this day forward, Carmen motioned to accept, Sonja Christensen seconded. This will be on the MN Website for available for the members Spokesperson Impact Team Shona Legislative It needs to reintroduce the Bill of Safe Food for Senior s. Members really needs to keep working on this issue In the February Edge has a grass roots step by step process on connecting with legislatives on this issue Awards & Recognition- Erin Work has been really busy with filling in with shifts Looked at why nominating form cannot be revamped and sent out by email for approval Presentation of Nominations for officers Survey Monkey is being used to vote for President Elect, Treasurer and Treasurer Elect MN ANFP is proposing to adopt the fiscal year from June 1 st to May 31 st like Nationals Yes or No Have a treasurer position on ballot Person who has the most votes will be the treasurer, and the other person to be treasurer elect Have a write in option for all positions.

Dorothy would like to propose that MNANFP would like to purchase a membership to survey monkey annually to get the benefits from the program and add logo identification for chapter branding and identification by members. Annual cost is $300. Carmen motions to accept the ballot and purchase of the survey monkey program. Sue Tackaberry seconds this motion Erin Meine would be willing to work with and manage the survey monkey survey, tabulations, results, etc. Dorothy will work to get it set up with logo, etc and teach Erin. Looking at giving a gas card for employer of the year award instead of the nights stay as the awards are going to be in the middle of the day instead of the evening. Looking at June of each year, look at those on the committee to see if you want to see if you want to stay on or be part of a different committee or go off. Needs to be completed for new years report to National and to order name tags for induction ceremony at fall conference. Membership-New Student Development, Membership Numbers Kathyrn/Shar/Dorothy We have 489 current members. A 5% membership increase to 497 is the goal to meet the membership requirement. Education New students, Graduates, Available Programs /Rosina This was discussed early this morning Vendor Motion made to reduce table at vendor fair from $300 - $150 made by Sonja Christensen and seconded by Gail Schwanbeck. State Achievement Award May 1 st and Doug has received all of the possible points so far. Doug shared his final achievement award application questions with guidance in sharing of the answers. Areas what we have for the next meeting June 26 th possible board meeting Nominating committee will pick the candidates and bring the award winner names to the board.
