General Information: CSIR-CEERI Short-Listing Result for Integrated Dual Degree PhD (IDDP) and PhD (Engineering) Programs at CSIR-CEERI, Pilani (January, 2019 Session) Only applicants with relevant disciplines (including multi-/trans-disciplinary) in the field of studies at CSIR- CEERI have been considered. Applicants with only BE/BTech/MSc or equivalent degree with fulfilling the short-listing criteria, who have applied for PhD (Engg.) program, have been considered for Integrated Dual Degree PhD (IDDP) program. Note that ME/MTech degree holders are only eligible for consideration to PhD (Engg.) program. Percentages have been converted to CGPA using formula CGPA=(Percentage+5)/10 as per AcSIR guidelines for cases where CGPA has not been reported. Age: as per CSIR guidelines. Short-listing Criteria: The applicant needs to fulfill all the applicable criteria listed below in order to be eligible for appearing in the interview. Integrated PhD Dual Degree (IDDP) 1. A 4-year undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science (such as BE/BTech/BS), or a five year degree in Science (such as MSc), or equivalent with CGPA 6.5. AND 2. At least one of the following: a. Awarded a national-level fellowship tenable at CSIR-CEERI, Pilani. b. Awarded as a CSIR-GATE-JRF. c. Qualifying the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship or 1 st rank in the University. d. Qualifying all the conditions stipulated by CSIR and CSIR-CEERI for Project Assistants to register for a PhD e. Qualifying the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored # students. f. A valid GATE/ NET score ( 500 for UR; 475 for OBC; 450 for SC/ST/PH), or CGPA ( 8.5 for UR; 8.0 for OBC; 7.5 for SC/ST/PH) at the BE-level examination. # With endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during the program. PhD (Engineering) 1. A Master s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4/5 year science degree; or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree; or equivalent with CGPA 6.5. AND 2. At least one of the following: a. Awarded a national-level fellowship tenable at CSIR-CEERI, Pilani. b. Awarded as a CSIR-SRF or CSIR/UGC-NET-JRF. c. Qualifying the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship or 1 st rank in the University. d. Scientist at CSIR-CEERI with no objection certificate through proper channel. Page 2 of 5
e. Qualifying all the conditions stipulated by CSIR and CSIR-CEERI for Project Assistants to register for a PhD f. Qualifying the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored # students. g. A valid GATE/ NET score ( 500 for UR; 475 for OBC; 450 for SC/ST/PH), or CGPA ( 9.0 for UR; 8.5 for OBC; 8.0 for SC/ST/PH) at the ME/MTech-level examination. # With endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during the program. Any applicant who fulfills the short-listing criteria mentioned above but whose name does not appear in the list of short-listed candidates for interview may communicate immediately by email giving complete details to <acsirceeri@ceeri.res.in>. If the claim is found valid, the candidate will receive an email confirming that he/she is allowed to attend the interview at CSIR-CEERI, Pilani with all necessary documents at 09.15 am on the prescribed interview date (30.11.2018). The short-listed candidates need to send a confirmation of their intention to appear for the IDDP/PhD admission interview and 1-page write-up (as a PDF file for PhD candidates) on their proposed research area/topic and investigation direction by email to <acsirceeri@ceeri.res.in> on or before November 26, 2018. All the short-listed candidates should report at 09:15 am on the prescribed date of interview (30.11.2018) at the Science Gallery of CSIR-CEERI, Pilani for getting all their relevant original documents verified before their interview. In case the verification process is not completed satisfactorily, the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the admission interview. Please note that no TA/DA is payable to candidates for attending the admission selection interview. Documents to be brought by the candidates at the time of interview: 1. One printed and signed copy of the submitted IDDP/PhD application form. 2. One printed and signed 1-page write-up on proposed research topic (for PhD candidates). 3. Two copies of recent passport-size photographs. 4. Candidates presently with existing fellowship at other institutes or CSIR labs need to come with a no-objection certificate (NOC) and give a consent in writing to join CSIR-CEERI for AcSIR-PhD in case of selection. 5. Candidates presently working at any organization need to come with a no-objection certificate (NOC) from that organization. 6. Industry-sponsored candidates need to come with an authorized endorsement letter from that Industry/ Academic/ Research Institute for the required academic leave and financial support during the program. 7. Copies of published research papers, project reports, etc. 8. Originals of the following documents and one photocopy of each of the following: (a) Valid fellowship award letter (if mentioned in application) tenable at CSIR-CEERI for the degree. (b) Qualifying degree certificate or provisional certificate. (c) Detailed marks sheet(s) / transcripts of the qualifying degree. (d) Matriculation / secondary school certificate (in support of date of birth). (e) Valid GATE score card and/or CSIR-NET-JRF rank details, if applicable. (f) Joining OM, if applicable.
