Border Patrol Volume 2, Issue 1 January 28, 2014 Lee-Bourland Camp 1848 Newsletter Commander s Note: Well here is the first month of 2014 and I think all the SCV within a 100 miles of Gainesville, TX has hit the deck a runnin. We have survived some real cold weather this year so far. And bless their hearts the weather people say that there is more to come. Well from what I have observed, the SCV is chomping at the bit to get in uniform and burn some powder. The Ft. Worth Stock Show Parade was well attended by SCV, UDC & OCR members. Some of us were in carriages or wagon. But the impressive groups were the marching infantry and mounted cavalry. It was a horse parade indeed. I had a lot of fun and I think the crowds along the way were very receptive to us. Many SCV camps were involved in Confederate Heroes Day Services. Myself and Joe White played a part in services hosted by UDC Shiloh # 2538 Chapter for the Confederate Veterans at Pecan Grove Chapel Cemetery in McKinney, TX. numbers can play a big part in honoring our Confederate Veterans. I m talking about Sherman, TX Camp # 349 Reeve s 11th TX Cavalry re-dedicating Col. Reeves grave once again. It is inspiring. I look forward to seeing all of ya ll at the Sweetheart Soiree March 1 or in the field. I have just heard that the Mother (Jean Basham ) of Norma Holley has passed away. Norma is the wife of Johnnie Holley our SCV TX Division Commander. Let us keep them and all grieving families in our prayers. This past Sunday was another example of how the SCV, even with small
