CASINO RAMA COMMUNITY WELLNESS GUIDELINES Who Can Apply Organizations, committees, agencies or other non-profit groups can apply. You do not need to be registered as a charitable organization with Revenue Canada or incorporated as a not-for-profit in Ontario. Special consideration is given to groups involved in a partnership of some kind, especially if this is the first time they have been part of a joint project. You must be able to demonstrate that your work primarily contributes to community wellness in Simcoe County, especially in the Orillia area. What We Will Fund Projects involving seniors, women, families and First Nations people One-time or time-limited projects that will have a lasting effect on the wellness of the community including centennial projects or Volunteer appreciation events Board or staff training development or long-term planning sessions that are not covered by other funders Projects from off-reserve aboriginal groups with no access to Casino Rama Revenue Sharing Dollars Preference will be given to projects that: Build community harmony through networking, partnering and working together Think outside the box and come up with creative ways to problem-solve and work together towards a common goal or project that will improve the lives of residents of Simcoe County Have a positive impact on the community, including long-term, spin-off benefits Are sustainable in the future without continuing sponsorship by Casino Rama Please note that meeting these funding criteria does not in itself guarantee approval. Due to high demand for funds, Casino Rama is unable to support all projects, no matter how worthy. guidelines What We Will Not Fund Organizations, events or activities that focus on people under nineteen years of age (minors) Individual or personal needs For-profit organizations or businesses Organizations or activities that are religious or political in nature Individual or team sponsorships for tournaments, walkathons, etc Minor or amateur athletes, sports teams or sporting events or pre-qualifying for Olympics Dollar-for-dollar replacement of government funding Financing of budget deficits or bridge financing New capital projects and equipment (vehicles, office furniture, computers) Medical research, health or diagnostic equipment Provincially-based universities, colleges, schools or hospitals, unless they are part of a community-based collaborative Events after the fact Projects of First Nations communities with access to Casino Rama Revenue Sharing Dollars Municipal projects, unless they clearly fall with Casino Rama s criteria and are part of a community-based collaborative Organizations that work with or assist people primarily beyond Simcoe County (excluding aboriginal groups with no access to Casino Rama Revenue Sharing dollars) National or provincial organizations whose local chapters receive Casino Rama support Events or organizations through third-party fund-raisers

What We Will Not Fund (Continued) Groups requesting donations for government lobbying or lawsuits Similar or same group projects or events in Simcoe County or beyond already funded in the Orillia area Conferences Poker runs, Fishing derbies, Dragon boat races Professional or retiree associations or events, employee groups Collector clubs, sport clubs, hobby groups Application Process and Deadlines Casino Rama s Committee meets four times per year: mid-may, mid-august, mid-november and mid-february. To be considered at one of these meetings, s must be received by the Corporate Affairs Department by the last business day of the previous month. The deadline for the May meeting, for example, is the last business day of April. If an is received too late for one meeting, it will be carried over for consideration at the following meeting (three months later), unless the event has already passed. Unsuccessful applicants are notified by letter Successful applicants are notified by phone or email within two weeks of each committee meeting APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. There is no limit to the number of times a group can apply for funding. However, only one can be submitted at a time from the same group. It may be beneficial to ask Casino Rama how to increase your odds of being successful in being funded. In general, groups should not apply for funding more than once in a fiscal year (ie. April 1 March 31) guidelines 2. Casino Rama s form has two sections. Section A Questions 1 19 inclusive AND Question 28 must be answered by all applicants. Section B Questions 20 28 must be answered by applicants requesting over $3,000 only. 3. Complete and submit all sections, along with all supporting documents. Incomplete s will not be considered. No part of your will be returned to you. 4. Note: Cheques cannot be written to individuals or businesses. NOTE: If you are applying for $3,000 or less, please go to the last page and complete question 27 (Declaration). The report must also detail how you have given public recognition for Casino Rama s donation. 28.
