The Trauma Center at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah presents

Overview The Trauma Center at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah is recognized as a leader in trauma care. As one of nine American College of Surgeons (ACS) nationally verified Level II trauma centers in the state of Wisconsin, the Trauma Center in Neenah is dedicated to providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for adult and pediatric patients. As such, we recognize the need and responsibility to educate the medical community and increase awareness in new developments in trauma care. Updates in Trauma Care 2018 is designed to update physicians, nurses, EMS personnel, and other interested individuals on current procedures, accurate assessments, and appropriate management of patients with trauma related injuries from the pre-hospital arena, to the emergency department, intensive care unit and beyond. Our challenge is to provide optimal care to the injured victim and their families in a changing environment. The Trauma Center in Neenah is proud to offer this one-day conference. National and local presenters will be featured during this one-day program.

Learning Outcome Purpose Statement: Participants will be able to increase their awareness about current procedures, accurate assessments, and appropriate management of patients with trauma related injuries from the prehospital arena, to the emergency department, intensive care unit and beyond. Following the education sessions, participants will be able to: 1. Review best practices in trauma care throughout the continuum. 2. Discuss integration with Emergency Medical Response Teams (police, fire, preparedness, hospital system, regional disaster, etc) to optimize response to mass casualty situations. 3. Identify priorities in emergent burn and airway care on scene at an explosion. 4. Describe appropriate field triage for Burn Center destination. 5. Identify recommended practices in care provided in an ED/OR at receiving Trauma Center facilities. 6. Identify special considerations in care of geriatric patients. 7. Consider implications of dual diagnosis when faced with trauma (medical/trauma determining priority). 8. Assess subtle clues in interpersonal violence and facilitate successful connection to appropriate community resources for victim and family support. 9. Gain insight into the similarities and differences in our Fox Valley Region EMS agency triage standards (SALT and START). 10. Provide Stop the Bleed/Bleeding Control Basic Course as established by the American College of Surgeons. 11. Reflect on the history of military paratrooper clinical practice with inspirational personal reflection and how that applies to our own legacy. Who Should Attend Physicians, nurses, EMS personnel, and other interested individuals.
