Horatio Alger Scholarship must demonstrate financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required) Attention Seniors Planning to attend Indiana University Bloomington! The Avon Guidance Department is now accepting applications for the prestigious Wells Scholarship. This

is a full tuition scholarship to IU. Avon High School can nominate two students to progress on to the interview stage of the selection process at IU. In past years, winners of the Wells Scholarship ranked in the top 5% of their graduating class and had an average combined SAT score of 1430. Applications can be picked up in the ALC Guidance Office. Deadline to turn in applications to ALC Guidance is Monday, September 16th. It s an overnight visit experience for highachieving high school seniors! Students who complete Bridges and enroll at Miami s Oxford campus will receive a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year).the Bridges application will be available August 1, and the deadline to apply is September 16th. Wabash College offers scholarships of $17,500 per year for male students ranking in the top 10% of the graduating class who complete the application process. The Fall 2013 Virtual Team Challenge competition begins in roughly 5 weeks. Now is the time to register with Ms. Hollenbaugh in C205. The Virtual Team Challenge is an entirely FREE online, multiplayer business simulation that takes place in the animated 3D world of New City. The team objective in the simulation is to help the mayor stage the most efficient oil spill recovery effort. Top-performing teams are eligible for prizes for themselves, their teachers, and local charities! Virtual Team Challenge will run this Fall from October 8 through November 19. SIgn up your team with Ms. Hollenbaugh by September 25th. N.O.Y.S. National Organization for Youth Safety - sponsors the "It Can Wait" Pledge Day - no texting while driving - look for more information on how you can support a great cause. 43% of teens text while driving 73% of teens look at their phones at a red light 77% see their parents text and drive 89% expect a response to a text within 5 minutes *************************************** 100,000 deaths per year are caused by texting and driving Texting and driving makes you at least 2x as likely to be in an accident ************************************************* We want you to make a pledge to NOT TEXT and drive. Look for some fun activities on Thursday and Friday next week to support Our campaign of No Texting while Driving All Boys who intend to play basketball this winter need to come to J110, the film room, TODAY during lunch. You will be trying on shoes to get them ordered for the season. Make sure you get to J110 on TODAY. The Avon Tennis Team is having a Chick-fil-A fundraising day on Monday 9-16-2013 at the local restaurant. You can visit the tennis team website to print out the ad. The 2013 Avon Dance Intensive will be held October 14, 15, and 16 from 1-9pm. This years guest have a wide range of experiences such as Contestant on So You THink You Can Dance, Member of the Broadway Musical "Motown" Cast, Member of the Broadway Musical "Bring It ON" Cast, dancer for Ricki Martin, graduates of George Mason's Dance Program, Dancer for Mark Morris Dance Company, and many more. This is an incredible experience for dancers to experience a wide range of style. Please pick up an application today in G115 or the Performing Arts Office.
