INSIDE PROGRESS DECEMBER 2017 CONSTRUCTION UPDATES FOR WESTERN INDIANA FRANCISCAN HEALTH AND FRANCISCAN PHYSICIAN NETWORK FACILITIES Projects continue on schedule The new sidewalk weaves through the healing garden outside the new location of the Franciscan Health Cancer Center in the West Tower at the Lafayette East campus.
GI/Endoscopy Services to grow with larger Outpatient Center We are bursting at the seams, says Ann Minnicus, referring to patient activity in the Outpatient Center she oversees. New space to be added to the existing Outpatient Center (OP) includes nine prep and recover rooms, primarily for gastrointestinal procedures, such as colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures. An additional GI procedure room will be added as well. Our primary goal is to ramp up our GI/ Endoscopy services, she adds. A step in that direction includes the addition of Franciscan Physician Network specialists Dr. Sherman Williams, who started in May; and Dr. Ma n Abdullah, who started in November. We anticipate with dedicated gastroenterologists and increased facilities, to be able to manage the volume more efficiently. Another service that compliments the GI/Endoscopy service is anesthesia coverage for Monitored Anesthesia Care. In addition to GI/Endoscopy, the OP Center handles infusions, blood transfusions, injections, prepping and recovery for interventional radiology procedures, bronchoscopies and pain procedures. The center currently has four procedure rooms: two for GI procedures, one for bronchoscopies and a room for pain procedures. Other services that are provided within the OP Center are the OP Center Lab, Pre-Surgical Testing and Neurodiagnostic procedures. Food One of the new areas in the expanded Outpatient Center. and Nutrition Services conducts nutritional counseling in the conference room. The new bed storage room. Advanced Wound Healing Center s new check-in area.
