2 nd Street & PCH A new retail and commercial is planned, and is allowable under current zoning Project will include: 55,000-square-foot Whole Foods store 95,000 square feet of retail 25,000-square foot fitness/health club 70,000 square feet of restaurant uses 1,150 parking spaces A draft EIR is being prepared, and project is expected to go to the Planning Commission in September 6
Civic Center $1 billion public/private partnership New City Hall, Port Headquarters, Main Library, and Park Partners will eventually build residential units, hotel, and retail space Costs essentially what we are paying today, adjusted for inflation Construction is well underway, with completion in Summer 2019 7
Queen Mary New lease with Urban Commons, who plans new Queen Mary Island destination Lease designed to create a stable, reliable fund for ship repairs Lease will provide largest amount of repairs and renovation since it arrived 50 years ago Carnival Cruise lines has taken over full control of the Dome, planning for larger ships Long Beach is the largest cruise port on the west coast in terms of passenger volume 8
Belmont Beach & Aquatics Center Approved by Planning Commission City Council will hear appeal on May 16 Next step will be to seek Coastal Commission approval Project needs to be fully entitled and funded before construction commences A fundraising campaign will begin shortly to raise private donations to help close the funding gap 9
Belmont Pier Damaged in February 2017 storms Structural integrity evaluated Cost estimates and funding options will follow Restoration/replacement alternatives will be developed in the future through a visioning process 10
