ELIGIBILITY 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit Physical presence in, and serving, Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, or El Dorado counties (Foundation fundholders exempt) Two years of financial reporting with a 990 or 990EZ Please note: 990Ns do not fulfill this requirement The following organizations are not eligible: schools, churches, and government organizations (though eligible organizations may be fiscally sponsored, or directly support, one of the above). Also ineligible are PTAs, sports teams, band boosters, and other affinity groups. Private foundations (filling 990PF) and organizations that file 509(a)3 or 509(a)4) are also ineligible.

Team Captains are your organization s primary contact with the Foundation! TEAM CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Attend monthly Team Captain Webinars 2. Inform and update your organization 3. Run your organization s BDOG campaign At the Foundation, we have very few staff working to help hundreds of organizations. Because of this, we do not have the capacity to communicate with multiple people from each nonprofit. That s why your organization s Team Captain is our go-to person!

REGISTER ONLINE 1. At www.bigdayofgiving.org, hover over Login on the top right corner of the page and choose Nonprofit. 2. Then click the orange button next to the login credentials. The system will instruct you on how to proceed from there.

SUBMIT YOUR PROFILE Refer to the BDOG Nonprofit User Guide for help when completing your GivingEdge profile All profiles will require updates, even if you have made some updates recently! Please respond ASAP if you are emailed regarding changes to your profile JANUARY 31, 2019 Deadline to submit initial profile! Don t wait until the last minute!

DON T FORGET TO CLICK SUBMIT! Make sure to click the Submit NPO for Approval button on the Overview page to complete the submission process! If you do not click it, YOUR PROFILE WILL NOT BE SUBMITTED! If this button appears grey and unclickable like this, it means that you are missing some required information. Click Check Profile and review each tab to make sure that all fields are complete in order to be able to submit your profile.

74% of BDOG2018 nonprofits submitted their GivingEdge profiles during the final four weeks leading up to the deadline. NEW PRIZE! THE EARLY DOG GETS THE BONE Submit your initial profile/updates by December 31 to be entered to win 10 organization will win the $500 EARLY DOG GIVINGEDGE PRIZE on BDOG! Profiles must be 100% completed to the best of your ability to be eligible

$$ MONEY $$ DONATIONS Minimum donation online: $15 Donation types: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and AmEx through the BDOG website Donations directly to you (cash, check, $ from other platforms) Through a charitable fund at the Foundation Donors can schedule donations on the BDOG website beginning April 15. These are processed on May 2. PRIZES Hourly Challenges Board Member Challenge (It s back!) Early Dog GivingEdge Challenge Social Media Challenge (TBD) And more! DONOR ENGAGEMENT TOOLS Raise funds for match pools before Big Day of Giving, which will show on your profile on BDOG Peer to Peer Fundraising Campaigns Look for a webinar training in April to explain this feature more deeply. You can also find info in the User Guide!

PEER TO PEER FUNDRAISING WHAT IS IT? A little help from your friends! Activates donors to campaign on your behalf! Brings new donors to your organization and you get their donor data! Tip: Encourage your board members, volunteers, and supporters to create campaigns!

FEES AND BENEFITS SACRAMENTO REGION COMMUNITY FOUNDATION S BIG DAY OF GIVING 2019

UNDERSTANDING TRANSACTION FEES WHAT IS PROVIDED SECURE TECHNOLOGY Goes to CiviCore, which is responsible for hosting the site, preventing fraud, and ensuring a positive user experience. AMOUNT 2.6% CREDIT CARD PROCESSING Covers the credit card processing provided by Stripe. 2.1% BDOG MANAGEMENT Helps the Foundation offset costs associated with event management, reconciliation of gifts, and check processing. 0.5% TOTAL 5.2% Donors have the option to increase their donation to help offset the cost of fees. In 2018, 74% of donors choose this option.
