FBi CONSTRUCTION SCHOLARSHIP FUND Purpose: To provide a grant of $1,000 to a student entering a course of study in the construction industries field with the goal of finding employment in a career allied with the construction industry. This career could range from construction management or civil engineering to architecture to accounting. Applicants may be graduating high school seniors or returning post-secondary students at a technical school, college or university, or someone continuing education after time spent in the workforce. Qualifications: The applicant must: 1. Reside in one of the following counties: Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Marlboro, or Williamsburg. 2. Be accepted to an accredited institution of higher education. 3. Desire to pursue a degree or professional certificate in a construction related industry. 4. Demonstrate financial need. 5. Maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 or better. Process: 1. The applicant must complete and return an application to Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, PO Box 1615, Florence, SC 29503 by Monday, April 2, 2018 along with: A personal statement telling why receiving this scholarship is important to your education and future with details about your honors and achievements, extracurricular activities, interests and community involvement as well as why you need financial assistance. Provide a copy of your most recent official transcript of grades. Provide proof of acceptance to an institution of higher education - technical school, college or university. Provide at least two letters of reference from adults that are not family members. 2. The applicant must return all requested information to receive consideration. 3. The scholarship grant is for tuition expenses and will be paid directly to the institution where the student plans to attend, not to an individual. 2
