To provide PH analyst support for the Health and Wellbeing Boards within Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council City PCT Main Duties and Responsibilities 1 2 To analyse, using appropriate statistical and epidemiological methodologies, and to interpret a broad range of highly complex information on health and its determinants, using local, regional or national sources To maintain and develop databases on the health and health needs of the population using national data sources such as Hospital Episode Systems, births and deaths, Exeter, Census, the NHS IC indicator portal, GP and community health systems and other data sources that are available 3 To communicate the results of such analyses through written reports, and verbal presentations, including those to larger specialist or non-specialist groups, this requires the presentation of complex statistical concepts and detailed information in a format that is accessible to a wide range of audiences 4 To develop and maintain a Geographic Information System (GIS) on behalf on the directorate Ensuring that there is access to geographically based, userfriendly and comprehensive system of information on the local population, using GIS software 5 To undertake audits or research in support of service development, as required 6 To respond in a timely and effective manner to ad-hoc queries on public health information and intelligence 7 To respond in a timely and effective manner to ad-hoc queries on public health information and intelligence 8 9 10 11 To contribute to the wider inter-agency information base and community partnership projects, providing specialist health information and knowledge, and assuring that customer requirements are met To project manage own areas of activity and to ensure timely and costeffective delivery to the clients To ensure, through collaboration with the GEM CSU, effective and robust use of all new and existing data sources for the public health intelligence function To keep abreast of current developments in information systems at GEM and within PCTs, providing specialist public health intelligence input, where appropriate 12 To contribute to the activities of the local and regional public health networks, Last Amended: 219/11/2012 Page 2 of 6
