VOODOO NEWS American Legion Post #4 News Summer 2015 Published Quarterly Issue # 26 From Your Commander Tim Shosey I want to thank everyone for voting me in as your commander, I look forward to a great year working with all of you and the Executive Board to continue to improve Post 4. I want to thank everyone that attended the Memorial Day Ceremony by coming out to support our fallen comrades. It was a great turnout at the Post, Cemetery and Fire Station. The Navy Sea Cadets did the Post 4 Flag Retirement Ceremony on June 12 th and I would like to thank them for a great job as always! I would also like to thank all the volunteers that helped with the setup and hanging of all the flags that were being retired. I was able to attend the American Legion State Convention in Sault Ste Marie, MI from June 23rd 26th. It was a great learning experience for me and I hope to bring everything I learned and observed back to the Post to continue to make our post better. We have a 2 nd Vice Commander position open on the Executive Board, if anyone is interested in the position please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I m looking forward to seeing you at the Post. News from the Post Adjutant/ Chairperson I received the 2017 membership cards in June. In an effort to save you and the Legion postage fees, I will be at the Legion on Tuesdays in July from noon until 4:00 to take care of your membership needs. I am also asking all PUFL and Earned Life to pick up their cards at that time. You must have a 2017 membership card by January 1 st, or your lounge privileges will be revoked. Don t let that happen, be an Early Bird. As always, you can drop or mail your dues to the Post. It would also be helpful for me, if you have a change in address, to please call me or mail the information to the Post. Another concern is keeping the records current of deceased members. We sometimes only know if a family member notifies us. Remember that the membership process is a three step procedure. If you pay your dues close to the dates listed below, you may still receive a renewal notice, please do not pay again. National is the last to receive notification that you are current. National sends out renewal notices: July 3, Oct 2, Nov.16, Jan.8, Feb. 26, and April 27. When I question whether I have paid something or not, I look through my checkbook as a reminder. If you have any membership questions, please, call me (not the lounge or just ask anyone you see). I would like to offer Congratulations to Justice Taylor, SAL Squadron #4 member, for winning the American Legion Brewer Scholarship. His mother, Christy Daniels, is a Post#4 legionnaire. Keep me busy, pay your dues. Please use your Lounge privileges and support the Post. Semper Fi, Adjutant Augie Miele 586 202-0646 From the Web Coordinator: Please keep sending your e-mail addresses. This has helped cut the cost of our snail mailing of the Voodoo News. The new website is up and available, please visit the site for all information and events happening at the Post. The Website Address is: www.americanlegionpost4mi.com If you have any suggestions for the site, please e-mail us at: Info@americanlegionpost4mi.com From the Web Coordinator Continued: Please Note that the Calendars in this News Letter are subject to change due to conflicts and scheduling issues.
