2019 Expectations of Junior Fair Board Members - Be courteous and polite during meetings and will refrain from private conversations and remarks. - Understand and follow basic parliamentary procedures. - Learn and use group processing skills including brainstorming and nominal group technique. - Develop a yes attitude and approach to new ideas. - Not engage in divisive behavior. - Serve as a positive role model for other Junior Fair exhibitors. - Assist in recruiting new Junior Fair Board members. - Understand and assist with conflict resolution. - HAVE FUN!!!
Ashtabula County Junior Fair Board Code Of Conduct Youth enrolled in 4-H, FHA/HERO, FFA, Scouts, Farm Bureau Youth, Grange, Camp Fire, and other youth serving agencies are eligible to serve on the Junior Fair Board. Youth serving on the board must agree to abide by the following Code Of Conduct. Rules: 1) The use or possession of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and or related paraphernalia is strictly prohibited. 2) A member shall not use foul, vulgar, inappropriate language or gestures. 3) Junior Fair Board members must dress in a neat and appropriate fashion. a) Appropriate means no derogatory, foul, vulgar, indecent language or meanings. b) No inappropriate advertisements of drugs, tobacco or alcohol will be permitted for all participants. 4) No member shall steal or be in possession of stolen property. 5) A member shall not physically, verbally, or sexually harass, threaten, or behave in such a way as could cause mental distress or physical injury to any person. This includes any form of hazing and extortion. 6) Each member must accept the responsibility of creating a positive image that reflects Junior Fair ideals of respect, honesty, and sportsmanship. Always maintain a positive attitude when handling Junior Fair participants, advisors and parents. 7) A member shall not possess, handle, transmit, or conceal any object that can be construed as a dangerous weapon or instrument. 8) Members must be in good standing and have met the requirements of their club or chapter. Consequences: All consequences will be determined by the Junior Fair Board advisors based on the severity of the offense. 1) Expulsion from Junior Fair activities and Junior Fair Board for no less than a minimum of one year. 2) Possible probation on a restriction of Junior Fair Board activities as to be determined by the Junior Fair Board. 3) A formal apology to those affected by your actions and to the Junior Fair Board.
Junior Fair Board Requirements During Fair Week Required Meetings o The work day prior to the week of fair o The Monday night meeting the week of fair o At least four (4) out of the five (5) daily meetings Tuesday Saturday of fair o The sale night either before or after you sell your animal o Talent Show o Super Showman contest o A minimum of at least three (3) events during fair not related to member s project category or committee. Required Hours o The minimum number of hours that must be completed throughout the course of the fair week will be determined at the June meeting. o Hours must be completed in the area not in the member s project area unless approved by an advisor. o Members must sign in and out at the Junior Fair Office in Junior Fair Notebook. o Members must maintain a list of events they helped with. Required Tasks o Name tags are to be worn at all times unless circumstances will not allow (showmanship, royal court participant, style review). Name tag must be available & shown to prove identity if asked. o Length of time and number of hours will vary from year to year depending on need. o Junior Fair Board T shirts must be worn on Tuesday and for the MAC Sale. o It is strongly suggested T-Shirts be worn as much as possible during the week, especially at Junior Fair events. o Represent the board in a positive manner o To maintain the Expo Building by cleaning it regularly. o Club and specie/barn requirements must be met. Consequences o 1st offense verbal warning o 2 nd offense 1 hour added to individual s total required hours o 3 rd offense revoking privileges including but not limited to grandstand privileges, office position, chairman s potion, and holding an office the following year. o 4 th offense removal from Junior Fair Board
