T2019 International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety Conference August 18-21, 2019 Edmonton, Alberta, Canada CALL FOR ABSTRACTS You are invited to submit abstracts for oral, paper poster, digital poster at the 22nd International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety (ICADTS) Conference, August 18 to 21, 2019 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. A limited number of abstracts will be selected for oral presentations. Please read the Call for Abstracts information carefully before accessing the abstract submission form. The Abstract Review Committee will assess each abstract based on its adherence to format, scientific or technical merit, and alignment with the overall conference themes. The primary author of all accepted abstract submissions will be contacted via email by December 18, 2018 with the Abstract Review Committee s decision. Review Criteria Overall clarity and quality Relevance and contribution to the field Methodology Innovation Validity of the conclusions Alignment with conference themes Abstract Submission Format Research-based and policy and practice-based abstracts will be considered. Abstracts are encouraged from students and young scientists.

Research-Based Abstracts: Recent Research in the Field of Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety Background: Why is this research important? What led to the research being conducted? Discussion, Conclusions and Implications: What was learned from the research? Were there any limitations or challenges? What is next for this project? Keywords: Include up to 5 keywords relating to your abstract and presentation content/themes Disclosure of financial sources and ethical conflicts of interest Policy and Practice-Based Abstracts: Innovations in Policy, Practice and Methodologies Designed to Enhance Safety Context: What was the problem or issue being addressed? Objective(s): What was the author trying to achieve? What were the proposed outcomes? Key Outcomes: What were the outcomes? How has this information been used? Discussion, Conclusions and Implications: What was learned from this project? What were the practical implications? Were there any limitations or challenges? What is next for this project? Keywords: Include up to 5 keywords relating to your abstract and presentation content / themes Disclosure of financial sources and ethical conflicts of interest Presentations at the Conference There are several ways to present at the Conference; indicate all the modes of presentation for which you would like to be considered on the submission form. Oral Presentation Paper Poster Presentation Digital Poster Presentation Oral Presentation Oral presentations will be included as part of the conference program Presentations should not exceed 20 minutes including Q&A PowerPoint slides are required Authors are strongly encouraged to submit a Working Paper

Paper Poster Posters may not exceed a maximum of 4 high x 4 wide. Oversized posters may not be displayed Push pins will be provided at the Conference Presenters are required to stand by their poster(s) at specific times to answer questions during the Conference. In the case of multiple authors, at least one author is required to be at the poster during the specified times (to be confirmed at a later date) Authors are strongly encouraged to submit a Working Paper Digital Poster Size of Screen: Approximately 50 (TBC) Presentation aspect ratio of 16:9 3 minutes maximum for slideshows and videos. Please note that slideshows will be set to automatically advance the slide every 20 seconds if not defined by the author Acceptable presentation formats are video, PDF, PPT or other image formats No volume There will be no individual presentation time; digital posters will loop on the screen at the specified times throughout the event Authors are strongly encouraged to submit a Working Paper IMPORTANT Digital posters must be submitted by July 31, 2019 Digital posters will not be accepted onsite Digital posters will be reviewed and scheduled by Conference Organizers for display at the conference Working Papers Submission Guidelines Authors of accepted abstracts are strongly encouraged to submit a working paper for publication. Once your abstract is accepted, you have additional time to prepare your paper. ONLY working papers and not abstracts will be published in the online conference proceedings. Detailed guidelines regarding working papers will be sent to those abstract presenters that have been accepted to present at the conference. Please keep the following in mind when preparing for your working paper. Submissions are accepted in English only Maximum of 2000 words single-spaced (excluding references) Your working paper should describe either original research or provide an overview of a government/industry/community initiative. Although it is expected to be an extension of the abstract, it can also contain new research results and information not presented in the abstract. The working papers are designed to document developments in research, policy and practice for the benefit of conference attendees, as well as the broader alcohol, drugs and traffic safety field.

The working papers will undergo a full peer review. However, the preparation of the working paper is not intended to preclude the opportunity for a more detailed version to be later submitted to a journal for publication. How to Submit an Abstract Submissions must be completed online, by clicking https://www.xcdsystem.com/icadts/abstract/index.cfm?id=yngjwaf On the online form, you will be asked to create a profile before submitting your abstract. Once your profile has been created, you may submit multiple abstracts. Submission Guidelines 1. Abstracts must be submitted electronically using the official online submission form. There is no fee to submit abstract(s) 1. Abstracts must identify the presenting author along with email address and phone number 2. Avoid the use of abbreviations, symbols and bullets. First use of acronyms are to be spelled out 3. Errors, misspellings and incorrect abbreviations will not be corrected 4. Minimize the use of charts as this detail is not used to evaluate the merit of your abstract 5. An individual or organization may submit more than one abstract 6. Edits to submitted abstracts may be made up to the submission deadline. Instructions for making edits can be found on the online abstract submission form 7. The conference program committee may propose an alternative presentation format, based on the available times in the conference program 8. Abstract submissions and presentations must be in English only 9. Abstracts may not exceed 300 words (excluding the abstract heading and references) Conditions of Participation 1. If an abstract is accepted, the presenter(s) agree(s) to register for the Conference and pay the appropriate conference registration fee 2. The conference is not responsible for any expenses incurred by the abstract presenter including but not limited to the development of the accepted poster, shipping, travel, registration or accommodation 3. Basic Audio-Visual equipment will be available for oral presentations, including a laptop (PC), data projector, screen, slide advancer, and microphone 4. Authors of accepted abstracts are strongly encouraged to submit a working paper for publication. Once your abstract is accepted, you will have additional time to prepare your paper.
