Membership KSNA Membership Committee - Report for Board of Directors 10 May 2014: Membership for Kansas as of 3/31/2014 was 1014 This is down from about 1115 two-three years ago are the very most and perhaps even more; our ultimate goal is to increase members and help other nurses realize the relevance of the Kansas State Nurses Association as a part of their profession of nursing We have had 2 meetings so far Plan is to have a conference call the 1st Thursday of each month for a while several people have asked to be removed from the committee, some people we have not heard from at all These members will be personally contacted prior to our June meeting Report provided by Linda Luzier We brainstormed ideas at both meetings about what could be done We discussed charity projects throughout the state, recruiting nurses at student nurse organization and major hospitals in each district A mentorship program idea was also discussed but more details are needed on how to get mentors and exact expectations of program Some major thing that were discussed We need to recruit and retain communication between the board and membership is inadequate Membership feels disconnected More communication needs to be electronic, we need to make updates to this process faster, Electronic communication may be the key to getting new and younger members Perhaps a lot could be done with our Facebook page and webpage Maybe the Kansas Nurse needs to be distributed in a different fashion Much communication took place regarding the possibility of more communication and innovative ways to communicate with new members as well as the possibility of engaging direct forms of electronic communication with new members and the board of directors and with

those in the grace period and a board member or someone who was on the membership committee It was extremely interesting to learn how expressive and interested in regionalization this group expressed being There has even been talk of some sort of talk of some sort of a package go out to all new members monthly (or however often we get a new list from ANA) that includes direct communication from the board such as a hand signed card, letter from President, and small welcome gift Linda and Christina are working on finding an appropriate card and will discuss this at the next membership committee meeting and then talk to the board about it Nominating No Report Membership Assembly Legislative Conference Councils Continuing Education No Report 1 Draft Budget (attached) 2 Draft Schedule (attached) - Plus KANS closing keynote 3 Registration fees (recommendation to keep same as last year- $150 for member for both days) 4 Sponsor/Vendor fees (recommendation to keep same as last year - $300 per booth) Discussed having the panelist again Show how DATL involve and impact the nursing students Serena thought we show discuss self-branding Jan was giving ideas for a keynote speaker Serena stated we should have Mary Wakefield or Kathleen Sibelius Jan is going to send a written report Education No Report Practice No Report Old Business Regionalization Taskforce Membership Regionalization meeting was conducted on Wednesday 5/7/2014 The purpose of the conference call was

as follows: 1 Dates for face to face meeting (For the East & West to come together to discuss completing the regions) 2 Finalize report to BODs 3 Relook at the timeline that was set forth The previous meeting notes were discussed An agreement on the timeline was confirmed The proposal from the task force is to have 7 regions and the BODs have agreed The BODs have consented to the timeline, seeking legal and accounting expertise into the finances moving forward Building Accessibility Deferred Tabled Robin Denham: American Income American Income Life: A+ rating Different than most insurance companies They help provide the following: Scholarship funds gift cards Donations Help with marketing and recruiting new members At no cost to KSNA, they provide a $2000 accidental death to each members Child safe kits are provided to the membership children and grandchildren Discount Card that saves 20% on hearing and dental appointments Save on prescriptions and provide education for identity theft Tabled New Business Outside water pipe break Director of State Affairs http://wwwailifecom/markets/associationsaspx See President s report The BODs are requesting Laura Sidlinger to expand on experience for the Director of State Affairs : Qualifications for the position and spelling out abbreviations Need Advocacy to be mentioned in the qualification Tabled
