Dear Raider Fans, It is an exciting time for Wright State Athletics, It is hard to believe just how young and vibrant of a University and an Athletic Department we have at Wright State University. We started our journey in the late 1960s, born out of a partnership between The Ohio State University and Miami University, and we have come a long way since then. As a 45-year-old institution, we have a unique opportunity and a serious responsibility to develop quality facilities for generations of Wright State student-athletes to come. We are laying the groundwork, literally for what our athletic facilities will look like in the future, and the future is very bright. In the following pages, you ll see some of the best facilities in the country, not just at the mid-major level, at ANY level. Strategic planning, collaborative partnerships, out-of-the-box thinking and a ton of fund raising went into (and continues to go into) all of our fabulous facilities. After a tour, most folks are stunned with a common response of I had no idea Wright State had such impressive facilities. From our state-of-the-art basketball training facility, which remains the only entirely privately funded building in the history of our campus, to our newly turfed, lighted baseball stadium, our facilities take a back seat to no one. This is our gift to our student-athletes, our commitment to making them better as People, as Students and as Athletes. This booklet will give you a glimpse of our great facilities, but I must tell you, they are best enjoyed in person. Sincerely, Bob Grant Director of Athletics 5

Ervin J. Nutter Center Since its first event on December 1, 1990, Wright State University s Ervin J. Nutter Center has been a premier facility. Wright State University s men s and women s basketball and women s volleyball teams have called Wright State's Nutter Center home since its doors opened in 1990. The 260,000 square foot facility has hosted a variety of events in its 22-year history including concerts, graduations, ice shows, and circuses for as many as 12,000 people. Included in the facility are 18 luxury suites around the concourse level, four additional basketball/volleyball courts, a recreational running track, a fully-equipped weight room, a multipurpose room, dressing rooms, and classrooms. A new $1.5 million, state-of-the-art videoboard was unveiled in November 2011. The centerpiece of the arena has eight videoboards and two circular video and message boards that keep fans entertained with interactive graphics and updates on scores and stats. 2

Setzer Pavilion/Mills Morgan Center Lobby and reception area Wall of Champions The Setzer Pavilion/Mills Morgan Center, a state-of-the-art training facility for Wright State University studentathletes, opened in August 2005. The 27,000-square-foot privately funded facility, which sits next to the Wright State University Nutter Center, features a full-length basketball court, weight room, locker rooms, audio-visual rooms, coaches offices, and a study lounge. It is the first and only entirely privately funded building on the WSU campus. This facility is more than just a basketball training facility, said Wright State University President David R. Hopkins. This is a place studentathletes come to grow academically. Director of Athletics Bob Grant said that while the facility has been phenomenal for practicing especially for basketball it has also provided a space for student-athletes to work on their studies. We turn out young men and women every day from this great university, Grant said. This building has shown a commitment to our student-athletes, making them better in all phases, whether it s life skills, academics, or athletics. Grant said that while the facility has been a great recruiting tool for studentathletes, it has also helped recruit coaches. He said the building was instrumental in helping get basketball coaches Brad Brownell, Billy Donlon and Mike Bradbury to Wright State. 4

Weight Room Locker Room Wright State is at the highest echelon of the Horizon League and has the facilities to develop blue-chip student-athletes. The Setzer Pavilion/Mills Morgan Center is 30,000 square feet, including a gymnasium, strength and conditioning room and coaches offices as well as locker rooms, video rooms and player lounges. Rinzler Student Sports Complex The Rinzler Student Sports Complex is designed to be a hub for Raider athletics and student recreation. The complex, dedicated in the fall of 2011 and completed in the spring of 2012, beautifies one of the main campus entrances with landscaping, signage and decorative architecture. The new facility includes Alumni Field, home of the men s and women s soccer teams, Mulhollan Field for intramural use, team rooms, concession stands and restrooms. The project is highlighted by a state-of-the-art turf field and lights that allow teams to play in any kind of weather day or night. The lights and turf allow more use, more flexibility and less missed class time. The complex extends across the street to the WSU Softball Field where lights allow the Raiders to play at night. The Rinzler Student Sports Complex is another jewel in Wright State s phenonomenal athletics facilities. The multipurpose turf field is named Mulhollan Field after Wright State s third president, Paige E. Mulhollan. 6

A sleek observation ramp provides an easy, accessible perch to watch events and games. The complex includes restrooms, team rooms and concessions. Soccer team room In the fall of 2011, Allan and Brenda Rinzler dedicated the complex that bears their name. This playing surface and the entire facility really sets us apart from virtually all of our competition in men s and women s soccer. Bob Grant, Director of Athletics 7

Nischwitz Stadium While the WSU baseball team has been playing at the site since 1993, Nischwitz Stadium became a reality in 2000. It was dedicated on April 12, 2000, as Wright State hosted the Indiana Hoosiers. The facility is named for Ron Nischwitz, who coached the Raiders for 30 years, and for his son, Gregg, who played for WSU for one season before losing his life in a construction accident in 1980. 8 The facility features chair-back seating for 750, concessions, lights, heated dugouts, locker rooms, a weight room and an athletic training facility. Nischwitz Stadium, which measures 330 down each line, 375 to the gaps and 400 to straight-away center, has hosted numerous amateur games and tournaments over the years, including the 2006, 2009 and 2011 Horizon League Tournaments.

In the summer of 2012, Nischwitz Stadium had a major facelift as a state-of-the-art turf system by FieldTurf was installed as well as a new pressbox. This new turf will not only ensure games will be played but also allows access for player development, less missed class time for the student-athletes and less cost in game preparation. The new turf will allow us to have more development time. It s a championship level field. Head Coach Rob Cooper 9

WSU Softball Field The WSU Softball Field has been the home for Raider softball since 1995. Along with hosting Wright State games, the field has also been the site of OHSAA tournaments. Recent improvements include dugouts, a new press box featuring a concession stand and restrooms, a new scorebooard and a new sound system. In 2012, lights were installed and the team played its first-ever night game. 10

C.J. McLin Gymnasium Across the hall from the main arena of the Nutter Center, the C.J. McLin Gymnasium has been the home of Raider volleyball since the 1991 season. McLin Gymnasium was the site of the 1998 Midwestern Collegiate Conference championship and the 2006 Horizon League championship. 11

WSU Natatorium The WSU Natatorium is the home of the Wright State men s and women s swimming and diving teams. Since starting Division I conference competition during the 1991-92 season, the Raiders have combined to win 18 conference titles along with 228 individual crowns and 77 in relay events. 12

WSU Tennis Courts The home of the Wright State men s and women s tennis teams, the WSU Tennis Courts, located next to Nischwitz Stadium, feature six courts along with bleacher seating on the south side. 13

Greene Country Club and Country Club of the North The Wright State golf program has the luxury of calling two local country clubs their home. Greene Country Club The 18-hole Greene Country Club in Fairborn, Ohio is a private golf course that opened in 1960. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens and fairways are bent grass. Greene Country Club Country Club of the North Nestled in the idyllic countryside of Beavercreek, Ohio, Country Club of the North is a rare blend of natural beauty and championship golf. Designed by legendary golfer and Ohio native Jack Nicklaus, this pristine golf course is rightfully mentioned along with some of the best golf clubs in all of Southern Ohio. Mature trees line the fairways that roll and turn around multiple lakes and streams providing both a visual treat and a challenging test of golf at this private club. The newly renovated bunkers are strategically placed creating additional risk and reward shots on every hole. The well-manicured bentgrass greens feature subtle contours which further enhance this outstanding golf course. Greene Country Club Country Club of the North Greene Country Club Country Club of the North 14

Athlete Academic Resource Center The Athletic Department is dedicated to the academic success of every student athlete at Wright State University. As one part of a multifaceted approach, the Athlete Academic Resource Center was renovated in the fall of 2012 to provide Raider student-athletes with a quiet, monitored environment in which to pursue that success. Every freshman is required to attend at least six hours per week at the center and other student-athletes must attend as required by their coaching staffs. All hours are recorded and weekly summaries are provided to each coach. Computers are available for use in the center as well as areas for individual study. For 31 straight terms, Wright State student-athletes have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. 15

Wright State Physicians Building The new Wright State Physicians Medical Office Building on the WSU campus allows for quick medical attention for the student-athletes, including X-rays, MRIs and rehabilitation. The 66,000 square-foot facility provides a convenient place for student, faculty and staff to receive medical services. The new sports medicine practice enhances performance while preventing and treating injuries. 16
