THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY WEXNER MEDICAL CENTER Strategies for a Successful Robotic Surgery Team Presented by The Ohio State University Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery Saturday, June 2, 2018 The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute Conference Center 460 West 10 th Avenue Columbus OH 43210

Course Overview: This course will provide surgical teams currently working in robotic surgery and teams who just started adapting robotic technology into their facilities the strategies and skills necessary to successfully implement and run a robotic surgery program for multiple specialties. The course will focus on improving communication, teamwork, OR efficiency and patient safety with the use of didactic lectures and hands on breakout sessions. Objectives: 1. Discuss the need for education and training when adapting new procedures. 2. Recognize patient considerations and comorbidities in robotic surgery. 3. Describe factors of positioning for patient safety. 4. Discuss effective port placement and optimization of robotic and laparoscopic ports. 5. Identify the administrative aspects of implementing robotic technology. 6. Recognize efficient aspects of OR setup and turnover. 7. Describe the roles of the surgical team members if the need to convert to open occurs. 8. Identify the steps needed to troubleshoot robotic equipment. Accreditation Statement: The Ohio State University Center for Continuing Medical Education (CCME) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME ) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. AMA Credit Designation Statement: The Ohio State University Center for Continuing Medical Education (CCME) designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Category 1 credits are accepted for CE by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
