POSTRETIREMENT EMPLOYMENT FOR RETIREES To all Postretirement Employees: We have been asked by the Retirement System of Alabama to share a reminder that every RSA retiree in postretirement employment must complete and return RSA Form PRE RN (Retiree Notice), providing all information requested by January 31, 2016. The form is in this link. RSA Form PRE RN (Retiree Notice) DECEMBER TIME SHEETS DUE All timesheets must be completed, approved by the supervisor, and submitted to payroll by 12:00 noon on December 10th. Timesheets that are not approved and submitted to payroll by that time will not be paid until the end of January. Please make every effort to correctly estimate the hours that will be worked and/or the leave that will be taken from December 11 through December 15th. If for some reason the hours are not worked as reported, adjustments must be made on your January timesheet. Supervisors are responsible for verifying the hours worked. Please make sure that the student workers that you supervise are aware. DECEMBER 10TH

RETIREMENT ADVISING AVAILABLE Control Your Money Game - Mid-career Seminars Half-day seminars for TRS members who have between 1 and 19 years of service. Retirement Preparation Seminars Full-day seminars for TRS members who are within 5 years of retirement eligibility. Individual Counseling Appointments 20-minute appointments for TRS members who are within 3 years of retirement eligibility. All appointments are outside the Montgomery area. SOCIAL SECURITY MySSA TOOL Please remember to reference your email to find two flyers from the Social Security Administration. What You Can Do Online is a one page flyer explaining the most popular online available options with direct links. How To Create An Online Account is a two page brochure explaining how to create a my Social Security account. Online access to your information is going to take the place of the paper statement that we usually receive in the mail from the Social Security Administration. JOB POSTINGS Information on available positions (including student positions) at Athens State can be found at: jobs.athens.edu TO SUPERVISORS Information on new employees must be entered into E-verify within the first three days of employment to be compliant with the Social Security Administration and Homeland Security, so it is imperative that New Hire paperwork on all NEW EMPLOYEES (INCLUDING STUDENT WORKERS) be on file in the payroll office before they begin their first day. NEW EMPLOYEES Donnie Johns Security Officer David Medina Alabama Science-In-Motion Biology Materials Assistant ALABAMA HIGHER EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP - AHEP From the Alabama Higher Education Partnership - Invitation to Join: Athens State University employees are invited to join the Alabama Higher Education Partnership, which represents all of Alabama's 14 public universities in legislative and grassroots advocacy. Membership is voluntary, but offers employees the opportunity to receive legislative updates and information regarding statewide policy that affects Alabama's public universities, including Athens State. Levels of membership vary from only $12 for basic membership, up to $120 for Level III Membership that also includes a $2,000,000 Educators Professional Liability Insurance policy. Employees can join online instantly at www.higheredpartners.org/membership or by calling (334) 832-9911 for more information. Visit the Partnership online at www.higheredpartners.org to learn more. HOLIDAY CLOSING DAYS The University will be closed for the holidays December 17 th through January 1 st. The University be closed Monday, January 18 th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

NOTARY PUBLIC Phyllis Claxton, in the Office of Human Resources, recently became a certified Notary Public. She will be available to assist employees with notary needs that you might have. PEEHIP TEAM UP FOR HEALTH WELLNESS PROGRAM STARTS A NEW YEAR (from the PEEHIP Advisor) The new year of the PEEHIP Team Up for Health Wellness Program is officially underway, and that means it is time once again to work toward improving your health by completing your required activities! The deadline to complete your required activities is August 31, 2016, but why not go ahead and get started by taking advantage of all the health and wellness benefits that PEEHIP offers to you as part of the Wellness Program. The required activities for the new year are shown below (in the attached link). These activities are required for members and spouses enrolled in the PEEHIP Hospital Medical group 14000 plan, if not Medicare-eligible and covered on a retiree contract. (The entire article can be viewed in the PEEHIP Advisor October 2015 ) Team Up for Health SECOND WELLNESS EVENT FOR 2015 2016 A second opportunity for participating in a PEEHIP Wellness Screening will be Wednesday, January 27 th, in the Student Center Ballroom. An appointment calendar will be emailed to employees in the coming weeks. ONSITE WELLNESS COACHING AT ATHENS STATE Also, please remember that Lindsey Lee will be at Athens State, Wednesday February 17 th from noon 1:00 p.m. in the Ballroom to conduct an onsite wellness presentation. Each person who attends this presentation will receive a certificate and credit for their wellness coaching activity. Therefore, they will NOT be required to complete the 100 heart beat digital coaching or telephonic coaching activity unless they have received a letter that 4 telephonic calls are required.

NEW PROCESS FOR STUDENT EMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS Effective December 1, 2015, the application process for student worker positions will be moving to the Career Development Center. If you know of any students who are interested in applying for a student worker position for Spring, 2015, please encourage them to apply at the Athenian Jobs website and be sure to check the student worker box when completing the new account registration. Apply to Student Employment. Email the Career Development Center for questions at careerdevelopment@athens.edu. Student Employment There are several positions available for the Spring Semester including: Writing Center Tutor, College of Education Administration, Coffee Shop Barista and College of Business Administration. CANNED FOOD DRIVE A SUCCESS The Canned Food Drive results are in and Auburn is victorious! The final count was 307 for Auburn and 287 for Alabama. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the annual Canned Food Drive to benefit the Food Bank in Limestone County. (canned food and cash donations!) All donations have been delivered. There are so many needy in the community and your generous donations will make such a difference. Thank you again! ~The Accounting Club ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING Athens State Employees participated in Active Shooting Training over the course of several days. The training was conducted in the Classroom Building by Sgt. Terry Parker.

THANKSGIVING MEAL PROVIDED BY FOOD SERVICE Members of the Athens State Family are shown serving a delicious Thanksgiving Feast that was provided by the Athens State University Grill. The Grill wanted to give back to the Athens Community by providing a free Thanksgiving Dinner!
