SURPRISE STADIUM The Home of the OUAZ Spirit Baseball Team: Surprise Stadium is the Spring Training home for the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals, and has been rated as the best place to watch a Spring Training game. (Best of Phoenix) 2
HEAD COACH TIM MONTEZ Tim Montez was named the first coach in OUAZ baseball history in early 2017. In his first season, he led the baseball program to the NCCAA World Series in Easley, SC. ASST. COACH ERNESTO ORTIZ Ernesto Ortiz enters his second season as an assistant coach with the OUAZ baseball team. Oritz is in charge of the infielders and hitters with the Spirit. He also serves as the recruiting coordinator for OUAZ. Ortiz has spent the last two seasons as the head baseball coach just down the road at Valley Vista High School. Serves as the OUAZ Recruiting Coordinator Works with the OUAZ Infielders and Hitters Graduated and Played at Grand Canyon University First team All-Conference Shortstop at GCU Played two seasons of Professional Baseball Served as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Valley Vista High School in 2016 and 2017 Helped lead VVHS to back to back 20 win seasons and a berth into the 6A State Playoffs in both seasons. Developed and coached 14 players in two seasons at VVHS that moved on to play in the collegiate ranks. 4

As the Spirit, we dedicate ourselves to becoming better baseball players as well as respected young men in our community by simply doing our best. THE PROGRAM We will help prepare young men to the best of our ability in the development on the field but as well as life after baseball. On the baseball field, we will play the game hard and fast. We will play with a no-nonsense approach, and be fundamentally strong in the areas of pitching and defense. Offensively, we will be an action-oriented team, which takes advantage of our player's strengths and capitalizes on the opponent s mistakes. 6
