Assisted Living Summit October 1, 2013 Columbus, Ohio Assisted Living is the fastest growing sector of the health care industry today. But with that growth comes more challenges such as government scrutiny, lawsuits, and reporters. Are you ready to handle this ever-changing environment? What do the new assisted living regulations require in Ohio? How do background checks affect my community? Does my staff have all the training necessary to provide exceptional service? How can I create more exposure and visibility for my community to the public? Are you looking for a quality improvement program designed to improve the early identification, assessment, documentation, and communication about changes in a resident s status? These questions and more will be answered at this informative one day Summit. This is not your typical assisted living conference. Specifically designed for owners, managers and executive leaders in other words, the strategic thinkers and doers of your organization. Take this time to collaborate with other assisted living leaders while earning up to 6 Continuing Education Credits. Featuring: 6 CEUs for NHA, Nurses and Accountants Expert faculty What is OCAL? The Ohio Centers for Assisted Living (OCAL) is the assisted living affiliate of the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) - the largest long term care provider association in Ohio and the first to represent assisted living providers statewide. OCAL was formed in 1999 as a natural outgrowth of OHCA's early efforts and representation, and we are proud to be the state affiliate of the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) with a growing membership and dedicated Board of Directors. At OCAL, we strive to provide leadership, governmental support and continuous professional education so our assisted living members can grow in their profession and achieve the highest level of quality and value for the individuals they serve.

He has served with two White House Administrations and both the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate. Kyllo joined AHCA 19 years ago. As the association began to focus more on assisted living issues, Kyllo made the transition from working for AHCA to NCAL. Kyllo played an active role in the creation of the Center for Excellence in Assisted Living (CEAL). Don t miss out on the opportunity to be informed! 9:30 am Networking Break 9:45 am Assisted Living A Federal Perspective Nationwide, assisted living providers are feeling pressured from CMS proposed rules defining Medicaid home and Community Based Services setting (HCBS), as well as working with CMS division of durable medical equipment regarding competitive bidding. Join NCAL s Executive Director, David Kyllo, as he highlights the potential impact the HCBS will have on providers who have assisted living on campuses with other long term care services. Dave will also share how NCAL has helped providers navigate the agency s new program to have Medicare beneficiaries buy diabetes testing supplies through selected mail order suppliers. At an all time high of more than 154,000 assisted living communities, NCAL provides a strong voice showcasing the growing role that assisted living plays in the long term care sector. Lastly, the session will highlight the NCAL Award process and the role it plays in advocacy efforts. 10:45 am Networking Break 11:00 am An Introduction to INTERACT v3 (Interventions to Avoid Acute Care Transfer) for Assisted Living Are you looking for a quality improvement program designed to improve the early identification, assessment, documentation, and communication about changes in a resident s status? Join Patty Cisco, MBA of CISCO & CO. LLC as she helps you understand the necessary steps you need to follow to understand your target audience and how to create a plan to connect with them in meaningful (and revenue-generating) ways on multiple online platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. If your organization wants to capitalize on generating leads and cultivating relationships with existing customers online, then this session is a must to keep up with today s internet marketing strategies. 1:45 pm Networking Break 2:00 pm Using Public Relations to Enhance Your Census You can t attract new residents and increase your census unless prospective families know how your community is unique and why they should select your facilities over the multitude of competitors.
