About 34 percent of investigations are penetration offenses (rape and sexual assault); about 66 percent are non-penetration offenses (aggravated and abusive sexual contact offenses). AFOSI does not collect data that allows for an estimate of the number/percent of these cases that involve intimate partners. The following is provided as a snapshot of NCIS Sexual Cases in each field office as of 08Apr14. The charts are separated to show the number and percentages of contact offenses versus the penetration cases of sexual assault. Enclosure (3) provides statistics for the total count of CGIS investigations from 1 January 2011 to current date, breakdown of sexual assault cases, domestic violence case breakdown, breakdown for each CGIS Region, and the breakdown for the number of full time CGIS agents (civilian and active duty). Adult penetrative statistics include both rape and sodomy. 12
