Nursing RN to BSN 1 NURSING RN TO BSN The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program is a dynamic baccalaureate program with a basic track and completion tracks for currently licensed Practical (LPN) and Registered Nurses (RN). The RN to BSN track is offered in a fully online format. The RN to BSN student will develop and expand knowledge and skills delineated by the professional nurse roles of provider of care, designer/manager/coordinator of care, and member of the profession. Students participate in selected learning activities to develop an understanding of the art and science of nursing. The program provides an educational foundation for continued nursing study at the graduate level. Mission & Goals To strengthen the health and wellbeing of the people of our communities by preparing students as professional nurses who engage in critical reasoning and creative thinking to design, provide, and coordinate exceptional nursing care in a dynamic healthcare environment. BSN Program Outcomes: 1. Upon graduation, students are well-prepared to function as a Baccalaureate nurse in a variety of healthcare settings. 2. Graduates well-prepared to participate as a member of interdisciplinary healthcare teams. 3. Graduates well-prepared to understand and assume leadership roles in the healthcare system. 4. Stakeholders who are satisfied with the BSN curriculum and educational experience. 5. Students who successfully complete and graduate from the program. Accreditation The program is approved by the Idaho Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Completion of pre-program requirements at LCSC or an accredited university or college. 2. General LCSC admission requirements. 3. Submission of completed application to the Nursing & Health Sciences Division. See the NHS Division web site (www.lcsc.edu/nursing (http:// www.lcsc.edu/nursing)) for admission criteria (TOEFL, GPA, verification of RN licensure in good standing, prerequisite coursework) and deadlines. Non-refundable fee must accompany the application. 4. Transfer students must submit course descriptions of prerequisite courses with the application to determine equivalency. 5. Applicable policies and information are located in the NHS Student and the Pre-Program Handbook on the NHS Division web page. Note: Upon completion of the admission process and verification of passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and thus holding the RN license, the RN student is admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. A maximum of 40 semester nursing credits are held in escrow until the required graduation check (semester prior to graduation). Students may also receive credit through direct transfer and challenge processes. Additional information is found in the Pre-Program and NHS Student Handbooks.
