Robyn Zinda, Jill Konicek, Sue Haberman NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS Worship With Hephatha Holy Cross will worship at Hephatha Lutheran Church and share a taco lunch afterward with our partner congregation. Retired Pastor Joe Ellwanger and his wife Joyce will lead a Bible study after worship, and we are invited to join them before lunch. We serve about 175-200 tacos and are looking for donations of the "taco fixin's" including tortillas, cheese, sour cream, salsa and dessert bars. Donated items can be dropped off in the Trinity Center kitchen by noon on February 1. When: Sunday, February 3, bus departs at 8:00 am and returns around 12:45 pm Where: Hephatha Lutheran Church located at 1720 W Locust St. in Milwaukee Sign up: In the Gathering Place for the bus and donations Contact: Amanda Juedes at amandaj@holycrosslutheran.org or 251-2740 A Meal & Fellowship The Community Banquet consists of a free hot meal which allows an opportunity for fellowship with others throughout our community. The Banquet works in partnership with eleven churches who provide the food and volunteers. It is open to everyone; you do not need to belong to one of the sponsoring churches to enjoy the meal. You can volunteer by signing up on the Event Sign Up or by contacting Deacon Ellie. Calling All Seniors Join Young at Heart, a fun group of seniors who meet in the Gathering Place on the 4th Wednesday of the month for lunch, fellowship, and entertainment. For lunch this month, please bring a food item based on the first letter of your last name. A-G a hot dish, H-K a salad, L-Z a dessert. This month the group will be voting on officers and activities for the new year. When: January 23 at 12:00 pm

NAMI is the nation s largest grassroots mental health organization, dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. When: Classes will be held on Mondays from January 28-April 15 from 6:30-9:00 pm. Contact: RSVP to Denise at denise@namiwaukesha.org or 262-409-2743 Preschool News...Save The Date The Holy Cross Preschool Board will be hosting the annual Rummage/Bake Sale on Saturday, March 9 from 8:00 am-1:00 pm. We would appreciate any GENTLY used items that you no longer need. Gently used items may include, but not limited to: children s clothing, adult clothing, household items, books, crafts, toys, sporting goods, holiday items, jewelry, baby equipment, tools, etc. No large furniture or unusable electronics, please! You may drop donations off in Room 109 beginning Monday, February 25. We will also need baked goods. They can be left in the Trinity Center kitchen, divided-wrapped-ready to sell, on Thursday, March 7 or Friday, March 8. Thank you for your support of Holy Cross Preschool! New Members Class If you have been visiting Holy Cross and are ready to grow in your commitment to our Lord and this congregation, we invite you to attend our next New Members Class. Annual Meeting The Holy Cross annual meeting will be held on January 27 at 11:30 am in the Sanctuary. All confirmed members are encouraged to attend this important meeting. Blood Drive The semi-annual blood drive with the Blood Center of Wisconsin will be held on Monday, January 28 from 1:00-6:00 pm in the Trinity Center. Imagine the lives that could be touched by your gift. It's a quick and simple way to give back to the community. Sign-up at www.bcw.edu/hcl or on the table in the Gathering Place. Chili Cook-Off This popular event offers warm (and sometimes HOT) food and fellowship at one of the coldest times of the year. Chili entrants compete before a panel of celebrity judges in several different chili categories (standard, white/chicken chili, vegetarian chili). Cooks who enter a chili in the cook-off receive free admission; admission for others is $25 for adults (12 and over). Kids under 12 receive free admission when accompanied by an adult. Entry includes chili samples, toppings, a bread bar, non-alcoholic beverages, desserts, and coffee. There will be entertainment, live music, door prizes, and silent auction. Wine and beer for adults and hot dog supper for kids will be available for purchase. Proceeds go to benefit Lutheran Campus Ministry. When: January 26 from 5:00-8:00 pm Where: Mount Hope Lutheran Church (8633 W.
