Calendar Year 1999 was highlighted by the ship's first-ever extended deployment, as MOUNT WHTNEY served as Fla ship for Commander, SXTH Fleet from June to October 1999. fidditionally, before and after this historic deployment, the Joint corninand Ship provided superb Command Center Communications, Computer and ntelligence support to Commander, SECOND Fleet during two highly successful Joint Task Force exercises. Both in support of the real world efforts in Kosovo and in providin a host platform for well-received diplomatic receptions and events in support of U.S. policy overseas, MOUNT WHTNEY excelled in every respect.
