Walk With Ease in Local Parks and Recreation Introduction and Eligibility

NRPA and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD), along with support from the CDC, are providing this grant opportunity to local park and recreation agencies to implement the Walk With Ease (WWE) program. WWE is an evidenced-based program provided by the Arthritis Foundation that was developed to help people, with or without arthritis, form walking groups whose goals are safety and success. The Walk With Ease grants are $4,000 and must be used for: Implemention of WWE at your local park and recreation agency, including holding at least four in-person class sessions and engaging at least 100 participants in your class(es) from February 1, 2014 - September 30, 2015 Training at least one instructor in WWE Purchasing participant materials Applicant Eligibility: Applicants must be a local park and recreation agency (e.g., local government department) and state/national agencies are not eligible Applicant may not have previously received grant funding from NRPA to implement either the WWE program or the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP) Local park and recreation agencies that are located in the following states are NOT eligible for this grant funding; California, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Utah Grantee Responsibility: Submit quarterly progress reports to include a final report that contains participant data, program descriptions (dates, times, and frequency of the class) and instructor information - a template will be furnished by NRPA to submit progress reports Participate in occasional conference calls, as requested te: The application MUST be submitted through this online link, but to assist in preparation of responses, a read-only copy of the application is available in PDF format: Walk With Ease Grant Application.
