Peritoneal Dialysis & Core Subjects in Renal Nursing (7 September 2018 17 May 2019) Jointly Organized by Institute of Advanced Nursing Studies, Hospital Authority Hong Kong Society of Nephrology Hong Kong Kidney Foundation Hong Kong Association of Renal Nurses Conducted by Kowloon East Cluster COURSE INFORMATION AIMS OF PROGRAM To develop the competence of nurses in renal nursing especially in peritoneal dialysis in order to ensure a high standard of specialized care for renal patients This program is also the Module I of the Post-registration Certificate Course in Renal Nursing. Registered nurses upon completion and satisfactorily passed all the assessments of this Module might be eligible to apply for exemption of the Module I when enrolled on PRCC in Renal Nursing in near future. Nurses who have been nominated to the Post-registration Certificate Course in Renal Nursing (07/09/2018 17/05/2019) are not required to enroll on the captioned module. PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon completion of the course, the participants should be able to: 1. Describe the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and treatment modalities of diseases/ renal replacement therapies for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients 2. Perform advanced health assessment and assess the impact of clinical findings on the condition of renal patients required Peritoneal Dialysis 3. Formulate appropriate nursing care plan for renal patients based on the health assessment data and incorporation of evidence-based knowledge related to Peritoneal Dialysis 4. Organize nursing management in terms of multidisciplinary approach and perform specialized skills for patients requiring Peritoneal Dialysis therapy in the provision of quality renal care 5. Evaluate on-going therapeutic interventions and clinical outcomes of the care and treatment for patients requiring Peritoneal Dialysis 6. Communicate patient s information & needs effectively to members in the multidisciplinary team 7. Recognize methods for evaluating healthcare interventions and outcomes in Peritoneal Dialysis COURSE DESIGN AND DURATION A.
