Welcome to Recreation! Winter 2017 The Arc of Monmouth Recreation Department offers a variety of social and recreational programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The programs are designed to serve various levels and are supervised by our staff and/or our wonderful volunteers. To register for programs, just complete the registration page of this Recreation Banner and email/mail the form to the Recreation Department. For new participants, please contact our office for our welcome packet! The Circles Club Honored for 25 Years of Service More than 30 members from the Circles Club attended The Arc of Monmouth Annual Awards Reception to receive not one, but three awards! Contact Recreation 1158 Wayside Road Tinton Falls, NJ 07712 (732) 493-0225 recreation@arcofmonmouth.org On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, the club proudly accepted the Member Organization of the Year award in honor of their 25th anniversary. In addition, the club was also the first recipient of the Kathy Mullery Ambassador Award for their community service and advocacy efforts throughout the years. If that wasn t enough, 11th District Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling and Assemblywoman Joann Downey presented an official NJ Assembly Resolution in recognition of the club s accomplishments. The Assembly Members had wonderful words to say about the club and its members achievements. The club members proudly wore their new orange club shirts. Congratulations, Circles Club!

PROGRAMS Creative Crockpot Cooking This class will be a little different than previous offerings. We will be preparing a meal in a small crockpot for you to take home and refrigerate. The next morning, take it out, set the temperature to low, and it will be ready to eat for dinner that night! In addition to the crockpot dinner, we will prepare either an appetizer or a dessert to eat during the class. Eat dinner before you come, and a snack will be provided. We will provide the crockpot (yours to keep!) unless you already have one. You will need to bring the crockpot to each class. Dates: Mondays, February 12 and 26, and March 12, 2018. Times: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Location: The Arc Center in Tinton Falls Cost: $80 including the crockpot $65 without the crockpot Blockbuster Movie Night The Recreation Department is hosting another Blockbuster Movie Night at the Arc Center. Come join your friends as we watch the movie on the big screen. An optional movie will be available. Pizza for dinner. Last minute registrations are welcome, please call at least 24 hours in advance. Dates: Fridays, Feb 2, 2018 and Mar 2, 2018 Time: 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm Location: The Arc Center in Tinton Falls Cost: $22 for members of The Arc $32 for non-members Valentine s Day Candy & Crafts Take home a sweet treat and a homemade craft for someone special this Valentine s Day! Date: Monday, February 5, 2018 Time: 7:00-9:00 pm Location: The Arc Center in Tinton Falls Cost: $25 for members of The Arc, $35 for non-members Name that Tune Pizza and snacks will be served as we listen to an afternoon of great music. Some of the Circles Club members will be assisting with this new event. Date: Sunday, January 7, 2018 Time: 1:00pm 4:00pm Location: The Arc Center in Tinton Falls Cost: $22 for members of The Arc, $32 for non-members Fitness & Yoga Randi and Kelly are back to offer a full year of Fitness to stay in shape. Fitness combines a variety of music, dance, and exercise. Yoga offers gentle movement, breathing techniques, and relaxation. Fitness is a high energy workout and Yoga is a low energy workout. Dates: Session 2* = Wednesdays, Jan 17- Mar 14, 2018 Session 3* = Wednesdays, Mar 21- May 16, 2018 Time: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Cost: $55 per session for members of The Arc, $65 /session for non-members *Indicate on the registration form which session(s) you would like to attend. Tuesday Night Social At the Tuesday Night Social you can socialize with friends, enjoy light snacks, play board games, or dance the night away! This program started in October, but you can still register and join the fun! Socials are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month, from 7:00-8:30 pm at St. Dorothea s Broad Street in Eatontown. You will receive a detailed schedule upon registration. Limited doorto-door transportation is available for a fee. SPECIAL EVENTS Holiday Express Concert & Lunch Here is your opportunity to listen to great holiday tunes from Tim McLoone s Holiday Express Band. We will travel by charter bus to the Ocean County College for the concert, and stop for a late lunch at either Olive Garden or TGI Friday s in Toms River before the show. The price listed below includes the concert, bus, meal and supervision. Date: Sunday, December 3, 2017 Time: Meet at The Arc at 1:30 for a 2:00 pm departure Return Time: Approximately 8:30 pm Cost: $50 for members of The Arc / $65 for non-members Please indicate on the registration form if you prefer to eat lunch at Olive Garden or Friday s. Your meal is included in the price. Devils Game Calling all Hockey Fans! We are the lucky recipients of free tickets to the NJ Devils game on Sunday, March 4, 2018. This is made possible by the generosity of their All-Star goalie, Cory Schneider, and Investors Bank. We will sit directly behind Cory s net to watch him in action. We are also invited to the postgame meet-and-greet with Cory himself! The cost covers the train ticket and supervision. All must be able to travel by train and walk several blocks to the stadium. Date: Sunday, March 4, 2018 Time: Meet at the Little Silver train station at 1:45 pm for the 2:10 pm train. Return Time: Back at the Little Silver train station approximately 10:30 pm Cost: $35 for members of The Arc/ $50 for non-members. Holiday Party at St. Dorothea s The Tuesday Night Social will be hosting the Holiday party this year on December 5th, the 1st Tuesday of December. Dinner and dessert will be served along with some great holiday music by DJ Randi. If you are registered for the Tuesday Night Social, you do not need to register for this party. Anyone wishing to attend who is not registered for TNS is welcome to register for this fun event. Date: Tuesday, December 5, 2017 Time: 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm Location: St. Dorothea s, 240 Broad Street in Eatontown Cost: FREE if registered for the Tuesday Night Social / $10 for all others. Circles Club BINGO Feeling lucky? Get out of the house for a night of luck and chance! Bring money for snacks and the prize sale at the end of the night. This is a fundraiser for the Circles Club of The Arc of Monmouth. Date: Saturday, January 27, 2018 Time: 7:30pm - 9:30 pm (Doors open at 7pm). Location: The Arc Center in Tinton Falls. Cost: $5 at the door, includes 2 bingo cards. **This event is limited to the first 100 people at the door. No pre-registration is taken!

Asbury Park s Convention Hall will be packed with food, giveaways, games, and of course, live music for the after party! Saturday, April 21, 2018 St. Rose of Lima School, Freehold The Broadcast Club will be returning to the stage to perform The Wizard of Oz. Come watch Dorothy, and all her friends as they journey down the Yellow Brick Road. If anyone wishes to join the ensemble, indicate this on the registration form. Details will be provided. Volunteers Needed! Get Your Glow On! Friday, December 1, 2017 Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club Farmingdale $150/ticket for The Arc of Monmouth participants (and chaperones) This year s gala will honor Rob Ilvento, the owner of the Silverball Museum and a parent advocate for autism awareness. Event ticket includes cocktail hour, dinner, desserts, dancing to a live band, casino, pinball machines, and many other fun surprises. Visit www.arcofmonmouth.org/winterglow to learn more. Without volunteers, we would not be able to have as many programs to offer to our participants. Many volunteer opportunities are available. We are always looking for new faces to come help out! If you or anyone you know is interested in making a difference in someone else s life, we have wonderful and rewarding opportunities waiting! Currently, we need volunteers for: Joymaker s Bowling, Special Events and Day Trips, Fitness on Wednesdays. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Recreation Dept. Recreation Registration Information Registration Please indicate on the Registration Page the programs and special events that you are interested in attending. DO NOT SEND IN ANY MONEY AT THIS TIME! We will notify you through a letter to indicate which programs you are confirmed for and which ones you are on the waiting list for. The Recreation staff has final approval for participation in all events. Please do not pay online via credit card until you have received confirmation. Cancellation If fewer than the minimum participants register for a program, it may be cancelled. A program reimbursement or credit will be issued. Refunds are not guaranteed for any program. If the individual cancels for a program, he or she must give at least three days notice for a refund for a ticketed event, and 24 hours notice for a non-ticketed event. Please note that in the event of a cancellation, we may not be able to refund your money. Inclement Weather In the event of poor or questionable weather, call our office for updated information an hour and a half prior to the scheduled time of the event. Our phone number is (732) 493-0225. When the program is cancelled, a message will be left on the machine. If the agency is closed due to bad weather, all programs during that time will also be cancelled. Transportation Limited transportation is available for some of the special events for those individuals who have no other means of transportation. There is a small fee when transportation services are utilized. Financial Assistance If financial assistance is needed in order to participate in a program, special event, or vacations, please call the Recreation Dept. We will set up a payment plan if one is needed. Full sponsorships are also available. If you need financial assistance, please contact the recreation office. We will send you a sponsorship application to complete and return. Change of Address or Phone If you have moved or changed your phone number, please let us know.
