Submit copy of state high school transcript with application. Also, the applicant should complete a portion of the scholarship application labeled Student Information. In addition, a letter of recommendation must be received for the applicant from a teacher or counselor. Please note that students receiving this award may not combine it with the Lillian Simpson or Vocational Technical Scholarships. This award does not require completing a FAFSA, but it is highly recommended. Helen Stokes Memorial Scholarship Fund (featured through the South Carolina PTA Awards) Requirements: The student must be a South Carolina resident for at least one year. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited 4-year college/university, or an accredited technical college in South Carolina. Applicants will be judged on the following criteria: academic record, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation (two of which must be academic- principal, teacher, counselor, etc. and one of which must be a character letter of recommendation- pastor, employer, etc.), SAT/ACT scores, and an essay (which must be 250 words or less on the topic of Why Do Schools Need PTA? ). All applications MUST be accompanied by a recommendation from a local PTA/PTSA in good standing with the SCPTA. The PTA/PTSA recommending the applicant must contribute at least $25.00 per applicant before March 1 st, 2011 to the Helen Stokes Memorial Fund. ICBC Scholarship (featured through www.studentscholarships.org) Requirements: The student must be between the ages of 17-21 on June 15 th, 2011 and a resident of the U.S. or Canada. Prior to receiving the award, the student must demonstrate that he/she has been successfully accepted and registered at the school of his/her choice. The student must answer to the best of their ability all of the questions found on the application form. If selected as a potential winner, in order to avail himself/herself of the prize, applicant must graduate at the end of the regular 2010-2011 school year and be enrolled as a full-time student matriculating at a State accredited four year college or university, carrying a minimum of 12 credits for the 2011 Fall semester. Trade, vocational and community colleges are not eligible. As part of the Nomination Form, each Applicant will be required to write an essay, in English, of no more than 250 words about How Milk Has Helped in My Academics and/or Athletics. All essays must be the sole, original work of the Applicant, must be typewritten (double spaced) or legibly printed. South Carolina State Fair Scholarship Program Requirements: Applicant must complete application form in its entirety (which includes a short essay on his/her educational experience) and return it to the South Carolina State Fair Office (see below). Application must be postmarked by Friday, March 18 th, 2011. Applicant must attach a current photograph (preferably a senior class photo) and a grade transcript for grades 9-11 to the application. Applicant must also attend a public or private college or university or technical college in the state of South Carolina. Applicant will be judged based on need, academic and extracurricular achievement, communication skills, and on aptitude for completion of application. Award: $6,000 (50 Total); Amount will be dispersed at the rate of $1500 per year over a four year period. Students pursuing two-year degrees will receive $1500 per year over the two year period. The selected fifty 2011 scholars will be required to meet eligibility requirements deemed necessary by the South Carolina State Fair.
